Chris, I have to be honest the fact that I am currently learning how to code for almost 2 years now, but the issue of AI is also demotivating me all the time and suddenly I ran into this hole of fear every day and sometimes even thinking of pursuing something else, but with this your video I started gaining back my motivation but even with that I keep failing to convince my heart software engineering will not be replaced soon.

Hi Alan 😁 To be frank, AI is really demotivating factor to most of learners like me. But I think we have develop a mindset that AI is here just to make us more productive. More expecially here in Nigeria, personally I don't think AI will replace us sooner or later. We're still developing our tech industry, infrastructure... talk less of robots and AI models.

Yeah AI is scary but is already out there so we just need to adapt, if you still learning use it as your couch, if you building stuff use it to help you finish stuff faster, or to optimize it. I have been learning for a year and still going slow because of personal issues but I just switch to a graphic design position and im using the heck out of ai, it have help me become more productive.

I’ve been taking the Udemy web developer course. Pretty much just started and since I’ve done some HTML/CSS prior I jumped a little into the intermediate HTML. I like it so far. Instead of step by step tutorials, they give you exercises to attempt during lessons. They tell you to pause the video and they have materials you download per lesson. Usually an empty HTML doc and the solution. Trying to avoid complete tutorial hell and actually be able to stand on my own 2 feet with coding. For getting it on sale for $12….. can’t say I’m disappointed.

I was bait-and-switched into PL/SQL development for my first job -- the last thing I wanted to do and furthest from what I was best at, which is frontend development. I agree and truly believe that you have to choose something you'll most be interested in and for me that's essentially anything visual. I'm keeping an eye out for AR development while I'm currently working on improving my frontend skills

See I enjoy front-end web development, but it's not hiring folks like me (no degree and less than 3 YOE) and that's why I feel I have to pivot to something like cyber security. Front-End web development reminds me of why I enjoy cooking, I enjoy creating things from basic ingredients and creating full fleshed out meals/websites. I'm looking at Google Certification for Cyber Security because at least then I feel I'd have a better chance. If I can get the cert and pass the CompTIA+ test, I can hopefully pivot back into tech and leave my warehouse job. I'm grateful that I went to my bootcamp back in 2019 to learn, but it's been a rocky road with low paying temp tech jobs that only give you a few months of experience before cycling you out.

Still been in the web dev space since 2019, but I'm fortunate to be in the Webflow space. I hate coding, but I custom code when needed. I like JS frameworks and tools that enable to just build visually. Being a designer first and developer second gives me huge demand. In my personal experience, I've been getting clients and people who are wanting to find someone who knows good design and development oppose to just development only.

I am from South Africa and i am currently doing the SheCodes bootcamp its free for ladies in developing countries which i think is really really amazing and i am so grateful. I have learnt so much and will be finishing my plus course and joining the pro course ASAP. Do you think it is possible to become a web developer for a foreign company as a contractor after knowing something like javascript really well or rather after actually understanding javascript. In our plus course we used a real API in our project so , so far i have 1 web application in my portfolio that uses an API. I'm really eager to earn more but it feels like this can only happen if i work for a USA company or countries with a stronger currency than my own. Whats your take on that.? I am also creating a portfolio website now in order to showcase all projects and of course I am planning creating more projects . I started the bootcamp in September i think . Thanks

Many KZitemrs share their community under their video description. This helps with debugging and relating to other devs at your level or what not.

Bro, the main issue with learning to code is it has so many videos out there that doesn't give someone an A-Z guide to building an actually project. The projects that they choose 99% of the time is the easiest for them to record (Twitter, KZitem, Netflix) never any real world projects, 99% of people don't want to create another Twitter they want to learn real world projects that can sell to real clients. To top it of you click to see the demo project, its not working properly. The functionality is buggy you can't login. That confuses people trying to learn because what you are building is not fully functional. Lastly Every video they talk about developing a project with about 6 new library or tools, so you can't really understand what tools is optional and what are mandatory other than (HTML, CSS, Javascript and React) because they always add about 3-4 new ones on top of those. Learning new things is good but explaining to someone what libraries are best for specific types of projects is a great start.
@raba650
10 ай бұрын
But following some tutorials can help you for example make a website for someone you know who might have a business that needs it. That way, you gain real world experience, providing value to a business. Plus, learning how to do things on your own will help you and it adds up since most of the time you’ll have to hunt things down to create something anyways (that’s just part of being a dev). Once you get some comfortability with creating things, that’ll help you with future projects.
@strawhatsanji4985

@raba650 You're 100% right. The main issue I was getting at is these so-called coding experts, make it extremely hard to understand A-Z how to start and complete a actual project By creating halfway done products and advertising it as fully done products. By using 3 new libraries and addons every video. It's extremely misleading and confusing for beginners. You know the saying "does who can't do, teach" this is extremely true when it comes to a lot of these so call experts on youtube.
@F.Castle

If you get stuck about a login, its easier than ever to get unstuck with chatGPT. You can ask chatGPT to explain to you how each line works or what those libraries are for. In my opinion learning to code is easier than ever now that you can ask questions directly to the AI. I dont think you actually learn anything anyways when following a 8 hours video and just copying the code line by line, you need to think by yourself. Begin with small projects and keep building bigger ones and challenging yourself.

this is how i actually learned lol, following youtube tutorials making clones netflix etc. ive done it so many times that i actually got familliar with the structure of it etc. and now im doing my own project. i dont know if thats the right way to learn but i guess i need to start somewhere so yeah.
@legendsanimexy8217

Then do you think netflix clone , KZitem clone or Twitter clone are not considered as real world project ? I am not a very pro developer. But if some developer can create full fadge working clones of any existing web apps don't you think he/she is able to creat real world projects . Budding clones are the best way test your skills and make a deep understanding about your skills . For any unique project you need to figure out by yourself . If someone is selling a course and he has made a unique real world project of something. And 500k people have purchased that course then they will say again stop buliding same things do something unique.

This return to the office park space, aside of a breeding ground for rapidly spreading diseases, what true benefit does the employee receive Chris? With another new respiratory outbreak alleged to be circulating in the north of China, does the prospective employer advertise its position to welcoming its abilities to become a spreader in chief of diseases unknown? Sarcasm aside, if the employee or prospective employee is not capable of independent work, doesnt that fact alone disqualify a potential job offering? -Bob...
