Thanks Tim. We moved from Atlanta to the Achasta community this month (August 2022). Your well made video reinforces many of the reasons we chose Dahlonega. We're visited Dahlonega over the years but you've introduced us to some unexpected adventure venues and opportunities. Thanks again.

Much love! I love Dahlonega. I'm up in Young Harris! Wanted to say Amicalola Falls I think is the waterfall you were talking about when you said Dicks Creek which is about an hour and a half from Dahlonega.

@@livinginnorthgeorgiawtimgi2664 turns out there are 2 in Georgia! Dicks Creek Falls is located in just North of Dahlonega in Lumpkin County (not to be confused with the Dicks Creek Falls in Rabun County). We are both right hahaha!

After visiting and staying a week in Cherry Log a few months ago, we fell in love with N Ga. I have been wanting to leave south Florida for a number of years now and we expect to leave within a year. We have basically settled our minds with N Ga and a few days ago learned about Dahlonega. I was so excited that we started looking for Airbnb properties to come up in early August to stay a week or two. However, i found some videos and articles from 2017 about a KKK sign that was placed on a building in the square. I saw that many of the residents showed up to protest until the sign was removed. Sign was posted by the building's owner. Needless to say, being people of color of Caribbean descent that was very alarming. We have 2 very young kids and want to raise them in a quiet, peaceful, family-oriented small town with amazing mountain views wjich is why we are looking at N Ga and specifically Dahlonega, but this discovery leaves us very concerned about safety and diversity in the town. Being that you are a realtor and a resident, do you feel we should definitely be concerned here? Should we forget about Dahlonega and look elsewhere? No judgement. If Dahlonega os mot for us its not for us. I know Ga still have some "sundown towns" and living in S Fla 30+ years now, i know there are areas within a 15-20 minutes drive from my house where black people aren't very much welcome. So, i know hateful people can be found anywhere and that doesn't mean the general population is hateful. We obviously are not interested in living anywhere we aren't welcome. Thank you for reading this long message and im looking forward to your reply.🙏🏾

Thank you for reaching out! I'm sorry, but Fair Housing Laws prohibit me from discussing this subject. But if you'd like to see homes in Dahlonega, I'd be happy to assist!

Not a realtor, so can discuss freely. That incident was a publicity stunt by the property owner that wanted to tear down the old building and build a hotel. The building was in terrible shape and needed to go, but local historians wanted it to stay. The property owner made a tenuous connection to the KKK and the property to make a point that not all history is worth preserving. Her stunt worked, and the location is now a Holiday Inn Express. Unfortunately, the news articles from that year make it look like there was actual KKK activity in Dahlonega in 2017, and that negative impression is what is left in the newspapers.

Oh no, are you saying Dalonega is about to have alot of growth and traffic? I was looking at Dalonega when I retire. I live in Henry County and the traffic had gotten horrible. There are industrial parks all over the place and it's definitely lost the small town perks. Do you see that happening there? Ty.

Dicks Creek Falls is pretty, but it is a good distance away. About 1.5 hrs on the border with SC. Just about as far from Blue Ridge or Gainesville. A good daytrip but not as close as Helen or Suches. Nice video and accurate to the expectations. Downtown expect to be outnumbered by coeds and tourists on most days. Most businesses are catering to that. The locals mostly shop on the Ga9/52 strip near the lake and US19 north of downtown where you find the normal ubitquous stuff.
