I’ve been diving in to psychology, space and philosophy in my free time for years and finally found a movie that encapsulates everything I have been thinking. Does anything really matter and what are we doing here really. For the most part of my life honestly it’s been a lot of pain and suffering, but there have been small pockets and “specks” that made all the suffering up to this point well worth it. Even if those specks were just for a tiny shred of time in the grand scale of my existence. This movie nails it 100 fold so beautifully. Still waiting and hoping for my next speck.

I don’t think life needs to have some great meaning, we are specs of dust in the universe, experience what you can, feel everything, then fade into oblivion like everyone else… we have solidarity in that inevitability, don’t beat yourself up thinking you need to change the world, it’s just a slightly larger spec of dust, and theres plenty of narcissistic people to fill that role.

To me, those tiny specks of joy and happiness get swallowed up by the suffering, so even feeling those joyful moments can be very painful since I know there is something bad just around the corner to steal that little bit of joy from me. I don't know if it's even worth it to feel those moments of joy at all if they're just going to be taken away from me by something terrible. Watching this movie, I understood the positive side to nihilism in which we need to find our own meaning in everything, but I can't help but wonder if the things we find meaning in really matter in the grand scheme of things. The way I see it, we all end up dead at the end of everything, so what do our hopes and dreams even matter? There are more negatives in this place than there are positives, so how could those tiny positives mean anything? I know that everyone's different, not trying to say that my viewpoint is the right one, just saying my piece. I guess I'm just way too much of a negative person due to certain life experiences, but hey, at least this movie made me want to feel that my way of thinking is wrong somehow. That way, the world and it's people won't be as awful as I believe them to be and I might finally be able to see something good to help me stick around for a while longer.

The first time I watched this film was after taking an overdose, waiting for it to work and for my life to end. It was pointless, really. If everything we experience is just one of infinite different realities, then death itself is an illusion. There will always be a you who survives, and for any yous that don't, well, they will never be you because they become nothing. No matter what I do, I will never experience being dead, and whatever version of myself lives on past all my attempts will be the one writing this comment, living again when I wake up. Over and over. For as long as it is possible to live. No film has ever had a bigger impact on who I am or how I see the world than this movie did. It succeeds at everything it was trying to do. I would say it saved my life, but that's not possible. But if I had died that night, if that was ever a possibility, I am glad I would've gone out to this movie.

It's not bad, you've just got some growing to do to feel the beauty in the world. And like, I don't mean that to portray you as childish because it is not easy to come out of a pit of nihilism. Eventually you sorta just, stop wanting to hope, I guess? And that's hard to come through, to finally break through and just let yourself hope. The reason it is hard is because the first thing you do is look back on the hollow empire of nothing you built in your brain. Nothing mattering can't make a clean switch to things mattering again without pain, and that's the part that you have to strengthen and grow to bear the pain of. It's like cleaning a room you've neglected for months instead of doing upkeep; You gotta do a lot more work, maybe lean on others to help even, if you didn't keep up. Eventually you have to find some internal strength within yourself to hold onto and get you through that pain and the blow to the ego that growth can be, and from there it's a constant cycle of growth and change that'll build on itself until you're strong enough to bear that pain and fight your personal demons. tiny piece of advice to change your thinking and re-evaluate? if you or anyone reading is the type to say "i want to die" glibly, I want you to try saying "I want to cry," and just admit it to yourself that you're hurting. It might not make a difference in the moment, but you *will* inject some cognitive dissonance into those thoughts if you believe you can be more than the hurt you feel.

@@lIlIIlIllIIIllIIllIlIllIllI hope is what destroys human beings cause the majority of the time it doesn’t come through. That’s reality. ESPECIALLY when you put your hope in to another human being. We are awful creatures and betting on each other is basically suicide. Not always, but almost every time. Period.
