I taught myself to crochet out of a craft book when I was 12. I am now a 66 year old man that has been crocheting and knitting forever. I clearly remember my first crochet project. It was a Granny Square throw. I outlined the squares in black (ah, have young vision again!). I thought it was cool. However, my tension was all over the place. Pulls and puckers everywhere. It took awhile to learn tension. You, sir, crochet like an old soul! Your tension is unbelievable! Your stitches are so even. Squares are actually squares. You definitely already have the skill. I wish you continued success and look forward to seeing all of your projects. Peace. PS I am currently working on a vintage thread crochet tablecloth. It has taken some time but that's what I like about tableclothes. The pattern evolves ri but in front of you. I'm about 75% finished and then I'll start another!

Ok suggestion for the vests, just do all the squares back n front n sides n crochet them together. Then just take the crocheted (seam)color n go around n across to make plain shoulder straps whatever size you want them to be.❤❤ -the white or cream color
