One ocean of consciousness, dancing with itself. Creating ripples within itself. The ripples complexity and form whirlpools. The ocean views itself through its whirlpools. What it sees when looking at itself, is determined by the sense perceiving faculties of the whirlpool through which it is looking through. When the ocean looks through a human whirlpool, it sees itself as a variety of separate objects. When the ocean localises itself as a whirlpool, it forgets that it’s the ocean. We gotta realise/remember that we’re all the ocean!

IT IS ALL REAL. To consciousness EVERYTHING is real. That is the whole point of existence. Learn all that is learnable....to know thyself. Everything is brought into existence by way of being experienced. It takes two. Me and not me(you). To me, everything that is not me is you. I experience you into existence, so that you can experience me and bring me into existence. Something can only exist(be known) relative to something else existing. How does one become aware of the color of ones eyes? You make two. Your reflection accomplishes this, it creates two out of one, so now you can learn the color of your eyes. It's hard to support solipsism because I believe everyone else is real, but my experience was that my existence is basically a movie manifested out of nothing. A dream. The imagination of a higher being, or simulation. It's all the same. Though to be fair I think my experience does not require solipsism. At the end of my existence everything does come to end from my perspective. Back to nothingness. But it makes me wonder if there are infinite experiences manifesting and that shared reality is an illusion anyway. The amount of lives I've lived, and physical matter I've felt, and times I've died in dreams, all support his ideas too. There is no spoon.

God has nothing to do with this world or this universe. Ultimately what is truly real is "God Is" and nothing else is. God is the ONLY reality and we don't exist apart from him except in a dream. The separation is an illusion; it never happened in reality. Our reality is our perfect Oneness with God. Our job is to wake up to that Reality by reinterpreting every situation, event, and relationship that we think we're experiencing in our dream world. And when we at last awaken we'll realize that we never left Home. I highly recommend this book: "The Disappearance of the Universe" by Gary Renard.

This questioner's mind is the really sad victim of the anti-mystical culture we've been burdened with since the 18th century or so. He sees something mystical, mysterious, transcendent "in Rupert" (really in himself) but his conditioning pulls him back to make sassy 'oh c'mon let's be practical' attitude and everyone has a good lighthearted chuckle. The 'if the world isn't real why don't you get hit by a bus' trope epitomizes this so well. For asking such a serious question, you would do well to treat yourself with the respect you gave to your own inquiry. We're not being 'practical' when we act frivolously like this; in fact, the greatest physicists and mathematicians, who our Industrial Revolution society epitomizes as the most real/practical field, ALL had a humble, almost mystical sense of awe with what they were studying.

Great Video. Thank you Rupert and the questioner too. Your frank and audacious Q draw this wonderful appearance event which helped me understand the fundamental truth about me and the world. It's just something appearing (looks like happening physically) from me (consciousness).

I was at a point where I thought I had a grasp on this but for some reason this explanation brought me to tears, as if someone I loved had died. A wave of grief filled me and I couldn’t help but look at my hands and try to grasp that none of this is real, even though I already knew and believed this. And then I felt so overwhelmed with the beauty of it all, I cried even more.

Beautiful. Sounds like an awakening experience. Of course, we grieve. We invested so much love into ourselves and our bodies. Anyone thinking this is a painless purely intellectual path is just not ready to face the pain of letting go of all these wonderful attachments. Everyone is happy to ditch the painful attachments, sure. But it is even more painful to ditch the beautiful attachments.

perhaps, the phrase "life is a dream", refers to the notion of it not existing as a absolute, but, in the realm of possibilities. it might develop this way or that, as the history of our terrestrial world has allowed. perhaps to "AWAKEN" isn't to become removed from the dream, but to go beyond living life as an assumption, with all of the imposed notions of "correctness", or as some schools of thought call it, "ASLEEP", or "MECHANICALNESS". at that point, you can begin to realize what being apart of the "dream of the terrestrial world" means to understanding what you are as a human being. all of our experiences, values, are then relative to the context of nature we live in. there is a nice simple poetry book call, THE TAO TE CHING, by LAO TZU, translated by Jane English and an eastern philosopher, which can be found on AMAZON. if you life near a big city library, they may have a copy there. hope this helped.

If everything is a dream then why do spiritual teachers have to charge exhorbitant charges for their retreats? Why can’t spiritual teachings be given to uplift mankind?
@allonszenfantsjones

Well part of the answer is that in the "real" world, people need to sleep and eat and make recordings. (I was actually in the room at this particular retreat). All of the people involved need to be paid. It lasts approximately one week and if you break it down cost-wise, I think you will find that it costs less than a typical vacation. Personally I chose it because it did not involve airfare, since I live close by. I admit that is or can be a problem. However the fact that you're making a comment on a KZitem, which aside from the cost of the internet and the device you're using, is free kind of undercuts your premise. BTW, Eckhart Tolle is much more expensive. Just saying.

Simple answer is those who can go to retreat, they go and those who can't go read online/watch videos(self inquiry)and abide in self!

Hello Rupert, I’ve been following you for about five years now and I find you extremely good at explaining things so if I am just a dream in gods mind, where does my free will come into? It is everything I do just predetermined or do I actually have free will to choose one thing or the other?
@ItApproaches
11 ай бұрын
Is no "God", and free will is just a belief. What have you actually chosen? You didn't choose to be "born", you didn't choose your bodies name, you don't choose how your body looks, ie, eye color, natural hair color, height, gender so on. You don't choose your family, you don't choose your friends as they are simply a result of proximity. You didn't choose where you grew up, or what kids were in kindergarten with you when you showed up. You didn't choose what foods your taste buds like, or what music or sounds are pleasing to your ears. You don't choose what political side you fall on or religion you find yourself in, you were conditioned into those. You don't even choose what to have for breakfast, it's just a pattern, a loop that stems from the journey up to that point. You don't choose anything, as there is no you.

@@ItApproaches interesting but what creates all that diversity? and why is it all causal and why is the awareness powerless to change anything about the appearances?
@ItApproaches

@@pennywise5095 Can a painting change itself if it doesn't like the image that was painted? No. It's a painting. It's just what is. Desire is nothing but ego. Wanting to fix something to like or dislike, this belief that "No, not good enough, we can do better." No, you can't. Reality is an infinite amount of dreams. They are random, they are all possibilities that can be experienced. The point of an experience, is to experience the experience. Liking or disliking something means jack shit. What creates that diversity? What creates a library full of 10,000 books of all different types? Imagination going in many directions. Fate is the author of all authors. As for why casual, because a dream never needs to be taken seriously. It's a dream. Nothing ever needs to be taken seriously as nothing is ever real.

Great topic. I discovered that there is no self to be discovered. I can’t communicate what I cant experience. My experiences are not my own. They are the so called “ puppet masters” experiences. Im in a perpetual state of not knowing. I consist of a bundle of those experiences, knowledge I have about them. My life is like one big dream. I look at you but no nothing about you. There is no reality to it. When this experiencing structure is not manipulating consciousness my life is on big dream from the experience point of view. I give reality to things “ not only objects but feelings and experiences and think they are real. When I don’t translate these things in terms of accumulated knowledge, they are not things. I really don’t know what they are. To me. The reality I give to things is a state of not knowing. It is a dream.
