@Angelo Stevens proof that Canada and UK health care system is horrible, or stfu
@cmecoo3109
4 жыл бұрын
@Angelo Stevens The NHS has its issue, the main one being is that 10 years of conservative governments have refused to fund it to cope with demand. The problem isn't the NHS as an institution, the problem is right wingers campaign to dismantle the social safety net piece by piece until it's all been sold off to the lowest bidder. Also for the record, we still have private medical care and insurance in the UK, the point of the NHS is that you don't NEED private insurance, it's simply there for people who can afford and want it, but it's not needed.
@cmecoo3109
4 жыл бұрын
@Angelo Stevens about 10% of people also have private medical insurance. However your point about being "forced to pay" is ridiculous. Everyone pays into the NHS because at some point, everyone needs the NHS, private insurance for instance doesn't cover emergency treatment. Also this idea of not paying for something because you don't think you'll need it is ridiculous. That would be like saying "well why should my taxes go to a police force? No one has burgled MY house"
@Dennzer1
4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It's all propaganda. the attacks against Bernie are uniformally weak or dishonest, they have nothing.
@cmecoo3109
4 жыл бұрын
@Angelo Stevens private insurance doesn't cover emergency medical care because it doesn't NEED to cover emergency medical care and the private hospitals that do exist don't have emergency departments because they don't need to have them. The demand for a private emergency care doesn't exist because people are happy with the NHS, not to mention it would make no sense for a paramedic to dive a patient to a private hospital with an ED(if they existed) when chances are they'll be far more NHS hospitals with an A&E closer. Also the main reason, at least from the people I do know that have private insurance, for them opting to buy it has nothing to do with the quality of service, they would just rather a hospital bed go to someone who isn't lucky enough to afford private insurance. You clearly have no idea about how the NHS works or why it's beloved here in the UK. The American health care system is a sad laughing stock to the rest of us in the developed world and it's good to see that sensible Americans are waking up to that fact

@sweeney7163

Pink Kat you completely missed the point, regardless of you being right about the fact that ofc even if you threw money at someone, they’d still need to decide to spend that on their own favor, the point was that Bloomberg has the wealth to bring about or help bring about change for hundreds of thousands of people, if he really cared about them. But he doesn’t, which is why he’s throwing money everywhere but to those who need it, going against a lot of other democratic candidates, who would all, except for Tom Steyer, make for a better president or at least presidential nominee, than Bloomberg would.
@Sean-y1m
4 жыл бұрын
Pink Kat “throwing people money” has actually helped and I would rather these social safety nets exists in the event that any of us need to use these services. No organization or government gives the homeless people checks or money directly, instead the federal government provides housing choice vouchers or section 8 vouchers which allow poor people to rent houses at a reduced rate. Any of us could fall on hard times, many of us are just a few pay checks away, and it’s comforting to know that I could have assistance getting housing rather than sleeping on the streets. Also the part about all homeless people being drug addicts isn’t true either. Substance abuse was also mentioned by 13% of cities as one of the top three causes for families. People who are homeless often turn to drugs and alcohol to cope with their situations. They use substances in an attempt to attain temporary relief from their problems. In reality, however, substance dependence only exacerbates their problems and decreases their ability to achieve employment stability and get off the streets. Additionally, some people may view drug and alcohol use as necessary to be accepted among the homeless community (Didenko and Pankratz, 2007). Breaking an addiction is difficult for anyone, especially for substance abusers who are homeless. • Motivation to stop using substance may be low. For many homeless people, survival is more important than personal growth and development, and finding food and shelter take a higher priority than drug counseling. • Many homeless people have also become estranged from their families and friends. Without a social support network, recovering from a substance addiction is extremely difficult. • Even if they do break their addictions, homeless people face the difficulty of resisting widely accessible substances in very near proximity (Fishet and Roget, 2009). • Unfortunately, many treatment programs focus on abstinence only programming, which is less effective than harm- reduction strategies and does not address the possibility of relapse (National Health Care for the Homeless Council, 2007). Substance abuse often occurs simultaneously with mental illness. People with untreated mental illnesses frequently use street drugs as a form of self-medication. Homeless people with both substance disorders and mental illness experience additional obstacles to recovery, such as increased risk for violence and victimization and frequent cycling between the streets, jails and emergency rooms (Fisher and Roget, 2009). Unfortunately, these people are often unable to find treatment facilities that will help them. Instead of penalizing people for drugs alcohol and substance abuse we as a society should give these people support, and the opportunity to get better in life instead of stigmatizing heir situations.

@BRITTANY BOND Actually, Raymond Marti has it spot on; the economy of Venezuela was ruined by US sanctions because they were considering building oil infrastructure with help from Russia or China (thereby potentially undermining the US' virtual monopoly on trading oil in dollars - thus propping up the US dollar in international markets and making it much stronger and more relevant than it otherwise would be). I'm not a huge fan of Chavez, but he actually did do quite a bit to reduce extreme poverty and all poverty in Venezuela. I believe he also improved basic healthcare and most measurable aspects of healthcare. Most of what we hear on MSM is propaganda; our government is the most responsible for a LARGE part of Venezuela's current issues, not Chavez or the people who supported him.
@AbsoluteZero101
4 жыл бұрын
@BRITTANY BOND seems you don't know how economics works. Simply explained the reason Venezuela crashed was because the foundation of which Venezuela stood on was the price of oil being high. Once the price of oil plummeted the government had nothing to fall back on. At least in the US we have the national gold reserves if we were stupid enough to have the value of our money be backed by oil. But sure you can continue to think "sOciALisM" was the cause of it all. Edit: As for Venezuela I don't know the full history that has led up to it crashing. I'm sure the US probably had a hand in it just like every other central American country.
@qinby1182

@BRITTANY BOND Venezuela is not socialist, it has a full blown capitalist economy. Yes the oil is owned by the state but so is the case in Saudi Arabia... What creates the poverty in Venezuela today is sanctions and illegal confiscations of their assets by the USA and UK (who took their gold...)

If Bernie was honest, although I disagree with socialism, I would at least respect his position. No way will his free stuff be paid by the rich. Just Like I am doing with my portfolio, I am re-allocating to different investments that will reduce my tax exposure. In discussing options with my financial advisor, internally they are predicting a 40% decrease in the Dow if he is elected. The only way he will pay for everything is through raising taxes and more regressive taxation like they have in Europe. The last time I was there tax on gas was 0.86 euro/liter ($4.40/gallon tax) plus they have VAT taxes; both of these hurt poorest of their citizens.

Political rhetoric is always entertaining. Trump shows that every day. But is Bernie electable? And even if he is .... can he actually get anything done? Consensus at this point is that he cannot beat Trump. And even if he does, he will not be able to deliver on any of his political rhetoric due to lack of support at the congressional and senate levels. Lot of great political orators throughout history. But how many of them actually got much done?

@@coreyham3753 - Your assertion of "consensus" is hilarious. Consensus of the MSM that profit from the billions of dollars pumped into their industry through political ads, maybe. The actual numbers from polls put Sanders ahead of Trump and outside the margin of error from 2015 all the way until now. Considerably better than Clinton 4 years ago, and considerably better than any other candidate now. As for achievement, the template for Sanders-style populism is FDR. Did he get enough done? Bernie has been a professional politician for 30_ years now, and has accomplished virtually nothing of any substance. Sorry, but that is just reality and just the facts. So you can live in LaLa land if you want to, but in the real world it is getting something substantial done that really matters. And RealClearPolitics polls show Bernie, Joe, and Mike all handily beating Trump. Bernie is shown at 50.2 vs. 45.6 Trump. Biden is shown at 50.4 vs. 45.6 Trump. He doesn't stand up for democracy. He's a socialist. He evens refers to himself as one.

@@sallywilliams5444 There's nothing anti-democratic about socialism, Sanders' stance on how the convention should be settled, or his policy proposals. I'd actually argue that capitalism is less democratic than socialism, as it creates top down hierarchies completely unaccountable to the will of the people. You can also see its corrosive influence on democracy by the undue influence of special interests on our lawmakers.

@@roboham09 Thank you for explaining what Bernie means. I get so sick and tired of people knocking him and not having the slightest idea what they are talking about.

@@sallywilliams5444 It's called "democratic socialism"... did you see the word "democratic" there? You know, like Sweden and Denmark have?

Sally Williams. It is clear that you did not study that well on high school Socialism is an economic system that can exist with democracy---- a political system. And what is wrong with democratic socialism? Canada is one, and last time I check, we are in way better situation especially in terms of health care and children tax benefits.

Bernie's a dope. Any idiot can tell you things you want to hear and a dope will believe it. They typically, like Bernie, have never accomplished anything. Intelligent people tell you what you may not want to hear, but it's the truth. Can you handle the truth?

You need to study history. The Republicans were the ones that freed the slaves, started black colleges and started NAACP. Dem's voted down every Civil Rights Bill the Rep brought to the floor for over 100 years, while the Dem's killed Lincoln and started the KKK and Jim Crow Laws. Who do you think killed MLK??? I'll give you a hint, the same guy that got him to agree to the Johnson Act.

13:08 - 13:43 THIS IS THE MAIN REASON IM VOTING FOR SANDERS. Exactly! We're born into a world where we need resources to survive, so people who existed before us who are hoarding these resources require us to obey orders our entire lifetimes in trade for the basic necessities to continue on living
