@@michealtaormina1561 I'm sorry, but would it really improve the movie to take a 20 minute detour (if that, considering that magic in universe takes years to study) and completely detail how magic is supposed to work? Isn't the point of magic supposed to be that it's fantastical and unrealistic? As long as it holds to an internal logical consistency it doesn't detract from the film to leave some stuff unexplained. That's why I don't really understand Cinema Sins anymore, they forget that at the end of the day, movies are supposed to be entertainment, and not everything that happens needs to be completely and factually explained because that would take time and probably bore the audience.

So glad you pointed out that saying the spell is not a necessity, people seem to forget that there was an entire plot line in the books around teaching Harry and the others to cast spells without saying the spell name. In the books, Harry had trouble with this, which is why he would always say the spell name. In the movies, they just skipped over it.
@timmyhkvt

As I recall, in the books Harry had as much trouble as any other students casting nonverbally, and Snape taunts him for it at the end of book 6. The movies omitted a lot of the verbal casting, probably because it made the action less snappy, and because they had to remove a lot for the final product to be watchable in one setting and on a reasonable budget.

Actually, I have a theory about why Grindelwald says "I hate Paris." It's been revealed in extended media that the flames he created were made from the spell "Protego Diabolica" which only affects those that the caster considers enemies. So him saying he hates Paris could mean that he was planning on using the spell to destroy the entire city, as Flamel said would happen a couple minutes later if they didn't stop it.

Honestly, this may just be me not looking for faults in a movie and instead watching them for pure enjoyment, but the only real flaw I saw in this movie was that the Accio spell was used to summon living creatures. This particular decision was stupid because they only used it on the Niffler, for which they already had an explanation for the Accio spell being used on the Niffler in the last movie. Why not follow the same path in this movie? In the last movie, the Accio spell only worked on the Niffler because of the gold and silver in its pouch, so the Niffler was being pulled along as Newt used the spell on the items in its pouch. In this movie, Newt says "Accio Niffler" and the Niffler leaps out and up into his hand. Why not have him summon the gold like last time?

So, unpopular opinion: I actually like this movie. It's not my favorite movie in the series, no, but it's better than most people give it credit for. I feel as though many just don't understand what this movie was going for. This was absolutely a set-up chapter. It didn't have a clear self-contained plot that resolved itself by the end in any kind of satisfying way. The point of this film was to set up things to come in the future. They were definitely going for a long-form narrative approach here. As someone who watches a ton of long running shows, it isn't a huge issue for me when I see this kind of thing. I am surprised that they used this kind of storytelling for a big budget film, so I honestly gotta give them the credit for having the balls to do so. I understand the disappointment from the people who were expecting more of a self contained story like what we've seen in the previous films..but I feel as though this film won't seem nearly as bad when the next number of movies come out and they can be watched all back to back.

Also sinning Half-Blood Prince for skipping the Apparition lessons. Had those scenes existed in the movie, Jeremy would have no excuse to ask dumb questions about those two spells when they happen.

Legilimency was a major plot point in the movies, and Jeremy still managed to pretend the concept was completely new in Where To Find Them. He makes up bullshit whenever it's convenient for a 'sin'.

I commented on CinemaSins page that often their 'sins' make no sense, as though they didn't watch the whole film or pay attention!! For example, Tina doesn't forget what Newt looks like! Also he comments about is this film set in Paris! Was he not paying attention to the earlier section where Dumbledore sends Newt to PARIS! Plus, the whole thing of Newt not being allowed to leave the country & using the Portkey bucket?!

I love how in the books Sybill Trelawny is constantly called a fraud. The problem with this is that she is accurate as hell when she goes into a trance. Does she possibly make shit up? Yes but some of those predictions have come true in some manner but good grief, that freaking trance she went into in Prisoner of Azkaban told us she is not a fraud and that her real predictions most likely come when she is not aware of it. I.E she goes into the magical equivalent of a seizure.
@timmyhkvt
5 жыл бұрын
Ah, you're confusing two different things here. Trelawney teaches the subject of divination, magical techniques anyone can use to predict the future. She's complete shit at it, getting things right basically only by accident. Independently, she is a seer, going into a trance and reciting a verse that accurately describes one or more future events, twice that we know of. That part cannot be taught and is not what she does in class. Dumbledore hired her for her own protection after the first prophecy, but she's no good at teaching children how to read tea leaves or a crystal ball.
@maximaldinotrap

All of Trelawney's predictions come true. She is the great great granddaughter of Cassandra Trelawney. In Greek mythology, Cassandra was given the gift of prophesy by Apollo. Later on, he placed a curse on her. Her prophecies would continue to come true, but no one would ever believe them.

One thing I would like to point out that actually strengthens your sin about newt not reacting to the obviously romantically interested redhead. Not only is Newt still romantically interested in porpentina aka Tina but newt is also clearly on the Aspergers spectrum. (And it’s pretty pronounced) obvious signs of Aspergers are lack of eye contact, dislike for enclosed spaces, the inability to pick up on body language or social cues, select mutism (only talking to people they feel comfortable with) more likely to bond with animals than people, tend to be really good with animals, and dislike of large crowds all things shown to be part of newts personality. So he probably wouldn’t pick up on the fact that the redhead likes him because he’s even thicker than most men about subtle social cues women put out when they like someone.

"This is presuposing that Newt is the only the know this" (About the cat-thing attacking only if you attack them) You also could've ad that... Almost yes. Back then most of the wizards didn't care about fantastic beasts, that's what's they're constantly saying throughout the movies? So why would they know what the cats are and do if they don't care about any beasts?

I swear if Jeremy came across a door he’d be like “this door is a fucking pain in the ass to push open (ding) also what’s the point of this sign that say “pull”? (ding)” 4:38 are you sure about that? The films certainly suggest that, but I don’t remember that ever being established in the books.

First of all,I want to say that I love the video and actually surprise that you willing to watch the movie at lease a few times over to make the video.Despite the movie being an incomprehensible mess,there’s still some sins they put there that makes no sense and I’m glad you point them out.With that out of the way, I have 3 question: 1-Jeremy’s wife surely watched CinemaSins’ videos so surely she must have aware about his cheateness so how come she hasn’t divorce with him yet? 2-At 19:00 you mention that Yusuf made a Vow to kill the one Corvus love the most and if he kill Tina that would violate the Vow cause he didn’t love her. So does that mean he can’t kill anyone else until he kill Not Credence or he can but have to pay some kind of price? 3-After that you mention that the Vow will kill him if he does not attempt to finish the Vow and now that the real baby is death,which means he can not complete his Vow,then what’s gonna happen to him?I know for a fact that he won’t be killed since he still stick around to the end but does he have to suffer some kind of punishment like a curse or he’ll be fine? Ps:I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan (I now that it’s a great franchise and why many people would be so into it and I think it’s great too.It’s just not that appealing to me cause I have my own taste in movies (this part is for those toxic fans out there so they won’t kill me)) so I don’t know much about the Harry Potter lore so I don’t know how the Vow work. Pss(You can skip this part if you want to):That part where he makes a joke about Vietnam and mention Full Metal Jacket,as a Vietnamese,I feel somewhat offense by the fact that he use Vietnam and a movie about the Vietnam war as a joke because it makes me feel that he doesn’t take Vietnam or the Vietnam war(one of the most tragic time period in my country) seriously and yes I know he properly didn’t means that but I still feel offense by it. Psss:Just want to say again that I love this video and your CinemaSins’ sin work and sorry if this comment gets too long and drag out(like CinemaSins these day)

Ok, so I strongly disagree with your "travesty" comment (2) but in a way, that kind of heightens my respect for how you constantly got the background info about legilimency etc. so spot on. About Jacob remembering. How the city was Obliviated was not the standard way they do things. Newt used the venom of that thing and he specifically said it erases bad memories. Jacob was told to step out into the rain and that's why he still remembered some things. Had they used the actual Obliviate spell on him, he probably would've have forgotten everything.
