About the spare tire: when flat, the spare tire can actually be used for as short distance under 30mph I believe. Also, porsche either included an air pump, or more creatively a pressurized air canister that will fill up the tire.

feeling lucky to have an 86 eu version then:) most of the lacking are solved. Like new dashboard, electric trunk release, electric seat regulations.I personally took off the 5th wheel and carrying only a spray can to quick repair; altho i was provided with a little electric compressor to inflate it at the moment of purchase. About the "airbrake" clearly there's something wrong with the closing system of your trunk, i guess you changed the hydraulics with non original too much reactive ones. I drive my 944 everyday for 7 years and still it's near perfect, i just love it. Nice channel tho

wow ! I am expert on the 951, 944 at my Porsche shop in Seattle the only thing wrong with the car are the owners not spending money on up keep the e brake hits you because it out of adjustment the spare tire came with a air pump that everyone takes the window slow because the window felt needs replacing or a poor ground the extra key hole is for the alarm oil gauge is down there because it race history but I will give you the green house back window but Porsche was more concern with aerodynamics not heat

I bet a PO even removed the drivers manual, too. Dorks buy a 30-year old car of any make and will have to spend $$$$$$ on it. There is no free lunch. But spending what you need on a 944 will give a car that one can really enjoy. I know.

I see that car and myself were made for each other. I like the goofy 80's color scheme, and the gauges...and the fact that you can only open the hatch with a key. One thing I like about my Audi TT is that the seats are completely manual. They have a seat heater thing, but I've never once tried to use it in eight years of ownership. I am slowly putting together a 944 to serve as my daily driver...before something on my 230K mile Audi breaks that I don't feel like paying to fix.

The Porsche quality of today is no where near where they use to be from the past! Back in the day Porsche used quality materials to make their cars, now all the newer ones are mostly made out of recycled water bottles (plastic)! Just shut the door on any older Porsche and compare it to the newer ones and you will see what I'm talking about. I have had several 944's over the years and both of mine have been great. The biggest problem with older Porsches are mechanics.

Replace the window motors with something more powerful and maybe it'll elevate faster. Usually with older cars it's just because there's no grease left on the tracks. Silicone grease would probably improve that bigtime.

You forgot the cracks on the dash! Everybody who owns an older Porsche has those nasty old carpet dash covers because the sun cracks the weak plastic after a few years. In college I owned a 1980 VW Rabbit (first year they made the convertible), and you literally had to reach through the steering wheel to turn the factory radio on. They changed the design a year later. Germans make great engines and body styles, but I never understood why the fuck up everything else.

Hey I’m having a no start issue as well on my 1978 924, I’ve replaced the faulty ignition coil (resistance measurements were off spec) however still no start, but I’ve noticed there’s 2 ballast resistors before the coil wich take the voltage down, I’ve measured them and the 1st one takes the voltage down from 12v to 8v and the 2nd one takes it down from that 8v to like 5.4V. This seems strange to me, as people say the coil needs 12v, do you think I should remove those resistors?
