@@Raoxa I was 10 when I realized I wanted a bird. I've been getting "no" for years but then I moved out and I live with my grandparents (to care for them) and now I have a yes. I will be 20 by the time my baby conure will be old enough to go home with me. I'm 19 now. It takes time. When I was 10-12 I did soooooooo much damn research and I thought I was ready. Although I'd never admit it to my family I know realize how not ready I was. Doing research now I'm learning so many things that I never did when I was 12. It's actually insane how much I didn't know. The most annoying thing is having a bunch of people believe that you can't do it. A bird is like a toddler with extra hazards lol and they never grow up and leave you either. So me being a super clingy person my whole life I'm very very excited. I've cried tears of joy dozens of times thinking about this little bird. I'm also extremely nervous I will mess up. I can't bear the thought of putting my heart and soul into another creature (and all that money too) just so that it will die. That would probably end me. It's a huge thing and I'm really very sad for you. I've experienced birdless pains for half my life but if it's that much of a priority for you, you will get there eventually, to the point where a bird will be possible. When that happens please look me up because I'd love to be bird pals. I'm looking to create a birdy support network so I don't fk this up. Sorry for the long text I have no clue where I'm going with all this.

Bar spacing and sizing is so important that i wish I would have known before my bird passed away due to him getting his wing caught on the floor of the cage. It was a large cage where he was able to fly but I never knew about the possibility of him injuring himself. Hopefully other bird owners will take this video seriously so they can prevent any injury and death for our feathery companions ♡

I actually stumbled upon your channel by pure accident. I've recently inherited a cockatiel. He's an older boy and has honestly been treated horribly most of his life. His cage is entirely too small, he was sat in a room alone and never allowed out of his cage, and his previous owners smoked in the house. When he would scream because he was bored and lonely, they would yell at him, bang on his cage, cover him, etc. I didn't know anything about birds but I knew he needed a better home than that. In my research I stumbled upon your channel, and I just want to say a massive THANK YOU because your videos have helped us improve his life so much. With your advice, we now have a much larger cage on the way with plenty of perches and toys for him to enjoy, and we hope that making him more comfortable will be one more step in getting him to trust us.

Don't forget to mention that you need to bathe your bird regularly. This will clean their feathers and get rid of dander. A spray bottle, a shallow bowl of water, anything similar to this will do. Just no shampoo as this will damage the protective coating on their feathers.

PVC is a good way to make cheap DIY stands just to let you know. Just wrap them with natural cord and you are good. If you really want to get creative though PVC bends very easily when heated up so you could use a heat gun(heat it outside as heating inside is neither good for you or your bird.) But I brought 2 other love birds after him! One named Luki who passed away only when he was 4 month old (He was only with us for 4 month until he passed away from a unknown disease probably mites or an infection) and one named Pistachio who we got this on May and he is very healthy!

I suggest a cockatiel, since they are calm, which is going to be best for elderly people :)

You might want to consider a bird that has little to no dander. Pionus parrots are not noisy, they are more independent, and don't produce dander. Typically birds that are from the grasslands like cockatiels, and budgies produce dander. Tropical birds on the other hand don't.

You should go visit a rescue and see your options, who knows a bird could chose you there. 😊

@@estie_birbs281 shelters and rescues are overcrowded you are right. They get a bad rap because people immediately think that all rescue birds have a screaming problem, are pluckers, bite, and etc.

I did get my bird a flight cage but my bird felt unsafe and just hid in the corner, he’s getting used to it but I believe it’s because he was kept in such a small cage (the breeder didn’t do enough research). I informed the breeder that the cages were too small, the birds also only had dowel perches. But don’t worry! I’m trying to get Larry more used to hands and the larger cage, he also now has toys and natural wood perches.
