Tian Wang was probably the one who handled it the best. Only said one thing about it and barely flinched. Who do you think handled the Hot Peppers the best? And who was the one that handled it the worst?

A little known fact: Scientifically, a tomato is a fruit, and a vegetable is not a scientific term but any part of a plant that can be used as part of a savory meal. :)

Was the farmer guy trying to act all cool by saying that the pepper he had was a good one? Show off farmer. He also looks a bit like Matt Damon...a bit.

+Erin Joe Maybe... But I'd think he eats a lot of chili, and it takes a while for the capsaicin to work. I personally think habaneros have the nicest flavour in addition to being hot; so it could actually be an especially good one...

+MrShi Shi actually its not that much of a problem. as long as no juice or oil from the pepper touches your finger you are fine. so grabbing it by its cuticula is ok since the pepper doesn't "sweat" is capsaicin out.

Just watching this makes my eyes water... and me nervous about touching them. Also, never trust a food scientist who breeds peppers when they say that this years batch isn't very hot.

But why is it that some of us don't feel pain on the way out? I just feel the burning in the mouth and I've never experienced GI symptoms.
@SteinGauslaaStrindhaug
8 жыл бұрын
+nemodot I've always thought this was a myth; cause I've never noticed this. But apparently it only happens if you eat it rarely, if you continually eat a lot of chili your intestines and anus, in addition to your mouth, gets desensitized to the capsaicin and you don't have any discomfort anymore. That explains why I can't remember experiencing this since I started eating quite hot food when I was 10 or so and started a eating very hot food 15 years ago. I've eaten chili in some form to some meals almost every day since then.

Stein Gauslaa Strindhaug Well, that's certainly not my case, I rarely eat hot food and whenever I do I don't have any GI symptomps.

Spicy isn't a a "taste" it is in fact just pain. The five tastes are salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and umami (sometimes called savory). Spicy food is pain, it's your body trying to tell you "STOP EATING THIS IDIOT IS FUCKING HURTS."

Good points from the chef. However, spice isn't one of the taste sensations. Spice = pain.
