Love this! Thank you for explaining these techniques for making soaps. I did recently stop using dried flowers in my soaps because they became rancid after a short time.

Do you recommend a certain silicone pan insert or something to keep pans from being ruined with left over soap? OR - how do you clean the pans?

We just reheat the pan, wipe the soap residue, and rinse it with water. 😉

Fantastic! You thought of everything. Thanks. This was super helpful. I have just started researching soap making and I haven't heard about the rubbing alcohol on any other video. Quick question: Does the clear (glycerine) soap lather well? If not, is there anything I can add to it ? Thanks

How to get more lather from m&p soap thx
@Simplyearth
2 ай бұрын
Great question! 😊 To get more lather from your melt-and-pour (M&P) soap, add a bit of extra glycerin or a natural liquid soap base. Both ingredients enhance the lathering capabilities of your soap. Using a foaming agent like castor oil can also help boost the suds. Experiment with small batches to find the perfect balance. Happy crafting! 🌿✨

I was adding some aloe vera juice to my glycerin clear soap base, and it won't set. I didn't know what went wrong, do you have any suggestion. Thank you so much for your explanation.

Unfortunately liquid additives don’t work well with melt and pour soap bases, they can only be added in very small amounts. You could remelt the soap and actually add more water to create something similar to a shaving soap product like this recipe kzitem.info/news/bejne/xKaM1KuNo5mrfaA

Thank you for this informative video. Is it safe to add fresh lemon juice to a melt and pour soap? If yes, how long can the soap be used?
@Simplyearth
Жыл бұрын
It is safe but it's not a very good idea. The acid of the juice would neutralize some of the lye and the its citric acid content would make the pH of the soap lower.

Do we need to spray alcohol first on the mold?
@EM-vr8ip
8 ай бұрын
Other videos I’ve watched say that you should spray the molds first with alcohol then pour and spray alcohol again to get rid of air bubbles that form. . This is the first video that says that the layered soap won’t stick together if you don’t spray it with alcohol.
@Simplyearth

No need to spray on the mold. 😊 Take your time and pour slowly to avoid any unwanted bubbles. If they do pop up, spritz with alcohol. Spritzing your soap layers with alcohol before pouring your next layer on top will help "glue" the two layers together and keep them from separating. Happy crafting, and enjoy creating your perfect soap! 🛁✨

An extra tip, do not put your soap in the fridge or freezer to cool faster. This let's the edges and top cool much faster than the middle and will create a pocket in the center most times

My coconut soaf base is not mealting. I am new, pls suggest me.

While we have yet to try a coconut soap base ourselves, many crafters highly recommend it for its moisturizing properties and creamy lather. If you're having trouble melting your coconut soap base, try using a low heat setting and stirring frequently to help it melt evenly. Remember, patience is key! 🌿✨

I’m new at making soap. I have been using melt and pour soap and very disappointed that I can’t do many of the gorgeous designs. My soap hardens too fast. I reheat it over and over but I’m still limited as to what I can do. Very frustrating.

Id like to sell my melt & pour soaps but i find it so unappealing when it sweats in the bathroom. People dont want the inconvenience of wrapping soaps after use and removing it from their shower to place elsewhere to dry out.
@Simplyearth
3 ай бұрын
The sweating you notice is due to the humectants in the melt & pour soaps. Humectants attract moisture from the air, so your soaps might develop condensation when left in a humid environment like a bathroom. While this might seem unappealing, it's important to note that it does not cause any harm. Humectants play a crucial role in providing the best soap experience by helping to moisturize your skin. They draw water from the air into your skin, keeping it hydrated and smooth. So, despite the minor inconvenience, the benefits of having these ingredients in your soap far outweigh any drawbacks.

I overheating my soap on the stove and am also wondering if it is safe to inhale. I may just have panicked but I feel like I may have inhaled something I shouldn't. Should we wear masks when heating? It was a natural melt and pour base
@Simplyearth
2 ай бұрын
Safety is always our priority! 😊 While natural melt-and-pour soap bases are generally safe, it's best to ensure good ventilation when heating the soap. If you are particularly sensitive, wearing a mask for an added layer of safety is a good idea. We hope this helps. Please take care while crafting! 🛁✨

How do I know how much fragrance oil to use in my soap 🫧🧼⁉️
@Simplyearth
2 ай бұрын
We recommend about 2 teaspoons (0.3 oz) of essential oil per pound of soap base for a subtle yet captivating fragrance. If you prefer a stronger scent, add 4 ½ teaspoons (0.7 oz) of essential oil per pound of soap.
