One of my favorite ways of using traps is to set up several "trap-shacks" surrounding the outside area, slap down some pressure pads, pop-up's and a high security door and youve got yourself a half-decent distraction, doubly so if you beffudle them into inaction.

Superb idea...as a matter of fact, I do that on Island One before the Super Agents ever show up on the map. If you can get used to the constant warnings about " high security door breached ", set the shack doors to level 3. That way, the valets won't run over and let the interlopers OUT, and they will constantly both attract new agents, and keep the trapped ones starving to death and stupefied.

Pro tip: You can make a 1-tile-wide room for stuff like pharmacies and gun racks. All you have to do is make a two-tile room, let it be built, and then set up an order to extend the room by one. Confirm the build order, pause it, deconstruct the room, and then unpause the build order.

You can also: 1 - Build a permatrap our of blower/magnet traps arranged in a square. The agent inside will helplessly keep flying and falling into other traps eventually building a combo meter that rewards you money. This is also a way to fund yourself without actually messing around in the world. 2 - Use a freak to trigger traps, just mind control him and put him in a room with a pressure plate, his stats are so low that he will constantly activate the traps. Higher level agents outright avoid most triggers but they usually won't avoid a trap if its triggered by a freak. You can (Should even) combine the two to create an inescapable trap. Oh and naturally it has to be somewhere to the side with its own entrance because you don't want your minions caught inside.

Love those, best used as either a fake entrance or as a sealed area to bait tunnelers. Best design I've found for them is a 6x6 loop, with motions around the 2x2 center wall, lasers won't always trip when agents go flying through them, but motion sensors work every time. Don't do it 5x5 though the firing sequence gets ahead of the cooldown and messes up the chain hit combo.

Btw in this vid, the reason the agents tunnelled into the power plant is because a battery was blocking full access. If one of your minions cant make it to a location, that will be exploited by agents who will tunnel in. Also, when I made my base, i. The main section, i had a 4 wide corridor all the way around. I would out loot in the middle of it so minions would get their stats replenished as they walk around the base. Also if you have an entrance to a base and need jt guarded, make a corridor with doors on either side of the corridor. Then make them lvl4. Military and guards will then stand guard near them. But have a rest area near by as their stats will drop

Yes, I remember the first time I got a nasty surprise when enemy agents started appearing in the middle of my base via secret tunnel. I had accidentally blocked access to the room in some way but I thought I was going to have to come up with a totally new strategy.

The exploit for cash also works for plotting. I used to set one worker to each region, set them to plotting and then come back in an hour or two. It won't unlock all Acts of Infamy immediately and some require certain conditions he met, but when those conditions ARE met the area is fully surveyed so you can jump right into it

In my most recent run of Evil Genius, I created a freezer hallway leading into the base lined with level 4 security doors. Agents walk into the room and are suddenly surprised by 20+ heavily armed security personnel who quickly take care of the problem. Just be careful when Super Agents show up... Jet Chan managed to kung-fu his way through that hallway like it was nothing... I wasn't even mad, that was incredible.

Here is one I always do when I get research. Near your lab, make sure you have at least 1 of everything, including traps. Otherwise you may miss key upgrades.

Maybe I'm wrong but based on my experience the most dangerous enemies in this game are the traps I set inside and outside my base. They're great at the beginning of the game, but the more it goes and the more they kill my minions. 1: My minions tend to trigger them. 2: When enemy agents trigger them, it's often my minions who fall in the traps and get killed. 3: Sart and strong enemy agents spot the traps and destroy the traps causing huge explosions killing my minions and spread chaos. 4: Damaged traps and triggers monopolize the precious time of my technicians and valets extinguishing fires and repairing them while they can do so many other things. Please let me know if you know how to make traps RELIABLE.

Keeping your minions attention up, and keeping the more lethal traps off the routes your minions take. Outside is less easy, blocking line of sight with huts/hotels can reduce problems for the shooty boys, oft I combine with a turret.

If you want traps to not work on your agents you really need to keep their stats up with food, entertainment & loot or your villian. Same goes for making traps work on agents, you need to make use of valet's and such & be observant of new agents all the time so they can reduce enemy agent stat before they enter your base. This is why many people build trap circles, because you only need to lure them in once & as long as 1 agent is inside, the trap circle is already active & stats don't matter.

Chance of triggering traps is based on attention stat for minions and agents both, keeping yours up and bringing theirs down makes a big difference. Lean toward nonlethal traps in high traffic areas, and put the deadly ones in dead ends with level 3 doors so your minions won't even go in there to collect the bodies. Not much to be done about high end enemies except take them out as fast as possible, don't try to weaken them as they will just shoot your valets.

I used to mod the hell out of this game, stuff like larger numbers of minions, new henchmen, cameras producing loyalty auras(the boss is watching!), speakers producing attention auras(the boss is talking!), making power plants produce more power, and changing the models for some of the Minions, like changing the Commando/Tier 2 Military Minion to the Riot Gear/Gas Mask Agent mode. I still have the modded files lying around on an external hardrive.

The "corridor to nowhere" is basically one version of a "decoy dungeon". I built one early on in my game, with the entrance to it square on the other side compared to the "real" entrance, and it was just filled with doors and a few wind traps to delay agents but not hurt them (so you don't have the out of the way decoy dungeon generate pesky corpses). Probably best strategic decision I ever made and it made sure solidly half of agents that showed up didn't even show up at the "right castle", so to speak.

i always put an armory with a security desk and second armory room with a level 4 door off to the side right at the entrance to my base, you can have the room manned with a time clock, provided you have plenty guards. all agents get auto tagged when they try opening the door before going further into the base and if you run on yellow alert youve got armed guards. you can also put holding cells in the adjacent room, just requires micromanaging the door to lock up the agents to deal with later. since using that ive not had a single break in. theres also are far easier way of dealing with groups of armed agents carrying assault rifles, set up a line of sentry guns outside your entrance, they have really good range and a line of them can easily wipe out a super agent and keep them pinned to the ground. it makes up a lot of power but as long as you make the most of the building area and manage to fit 20 nuclear reactors, you can power the whole base and outside defenses. the best location for a sentry gun defense at your base entrance is the long tip to the south of the island where theres an arrangement of trees that bottleneck the pathways.

If a minion deserts, arrest him as that resets his loyalty making him under your control again. This doesn't happen if Mariana Mamba uses savage allure. Another tip is to make ALL of your henchmen stealing/plotting/hiding when a super agent visits your base. If you don't then they will likely die 3 times and you will permanently lose them (I learnt the hard way). I hope that Evil Genius 2 comes out shortly or at least we get a release date so that I can pre-order it.

One of the things I would always do is create a separate room with about 3 of the advanced prison cells in it, well away from any of the other areas, usually with like a 6X6 to like 6x8 pattern to it and down a 2X hallway. while putting it off the grid with no cameras, put the door to level 3, fill it with about 3 or 4 of the henchmen, and then stuff mamba and or John Steele in it, that way their easily contained, dont take any of the henchmen's spare lives and dont set off the alarms when they break out, which would often result in everyone in a 20 mile radius running towards the cell and blocking the henchmen from putting them back in. which when you have the populaition density set to like 200 to 250 people instead of the base 100, which is an easy to do modification that was actually listed on the old website, was ALOT of people and I would usually do this with Jumbai on the ready with his sword strike ability, although, naturally I never recruited red ivan or ran the game without that fan made patch that switched him to an M60 instead of a rocket launcher when I did that though for obvious reasons lol also as another tip when moving to the second island, make sure your heat level is at zero and immediately pause the game and move all of the stolen loot items to where the new entrance is going to be when you get there, usually like 4 across from each other, and build a room off to the side of the new entrance to contain them ASAP especially for the paintings, as the game unlike it does at the start doesnt stop the agents from spawning, and this will keep your minions spirits high while they get the base back up and running. like make it a psudo corodior of loot for them to walk buy as they build the place, and its actually not a bad idea to have a false entrance to keep the agents busy on the far end of the base, next to where they start you out from, as I would always build up midway up the island across from the helipad on the opposite side to keep them busy and from hindering things like imagine north south east west, the false entrance is dead south, and the real entrance is on the east side, as the agents always seemed to spawn towards the north west and forgive the vagueness I'm going off of memory here and its been awhile, also the steam version could use an update to the patched version of the game FYI, its still running off of the pre patched one lol

I build the false entrance with an uber-trap to get the agents in & keep them in. Then, when there are enough in there, new ones stop arriving, so you can run your base without interruption, (except for super agents). And even they can sometimes get stuck in the uber-trap. The only problem comes when you want to complete the task to nullify them.

I personally have always found it useful to build plenty of topside shacks around the place, with level 3 security. Agents waste their time on these even if they've already cracked them, while my base is mostly open around the entrance. On the first island, the only real door they need to get through is in the middle of the mountain, past the mess hall and barracks, but because they're mucking about with the shacks they hardly ever bother going inside. Also, why is it that agents like to destroy your reading tables? :/

Things I found that help: 1) build 2 entrances with multiple doors, then just switch one door to level 3 when agents arrive (whichever entrance they are going for). The minions will then use the other door, delaying the agents. 2) Sentry Guns are super OP. Placing multiple banks around the base annihilates soldier attacks. 3) Create an armoury (only holding cells) completely separate to the rest of the base. With its own external entrance etc. Combined with long meandering corridors with doors and traps. If superagents are put inside, not only will it take then a long time to get out. If the escape they are not in your actual base. Then place an array of sentry guns facing the exit of the armoury entrance, then as soon as the agent leaves, they will be shot and can be placed back in the cell to begin the process all over again! 4) Build a seperate Power Station for just capacitors, meaning the backup power supply is always completely seperate from the main power, so agents never completely destroy your overall power.

One very important island-moving tip: while you want to build up a sizable nest egg so you can get your Island 2 base dug out quickly and move all your loot into somewhere agents can't just waltz up and ogle it, you should note that the _absolute maximum_ amount of money you can take to the second island is $800,000. This is for a very simple reason--a full stack of gold bars is $400,000, and you can only fit two full stacks of gold bars into a hut strongroom! Any more would render some part of the briefcase rack inaccessible, so excess past 800k just gets left behind when you move house.

No, they'll bring the money, they'll just have to pay with gold bars, which is a bit slower i think but still doable. For instance, I have moved to the new base with 3m+ in cash. Building the money room quickly in base 2 is essential though to buildnig quickly because it'll take a long time otherwise.

@@InchonDM Can confirm; All your massive money horde is stored in a single briefcase in the dock-building until you make a strongroom large enough to hold it all. The biggest challenge is that when that 1 briefcase is delivered to the briefcase rack, any minions loitering inside of it will become entrapped in the stacks of gold.

Another tip build multiple entrances into the base that go no where agents will not only use them your minions will not get caught in the traps usually I do loyalty traps or other stat traps not to kill but enough to keep them in there sometimes just a magnet trap with treadmill they keep trying to leave and it pulls them back to the treadmill where they do this till they pass out. They wake up and if ever able to escape they leave and none of your minions get caught in it cause they never travel there

Here's my evil pro tip on how to easily deal with superagents. To see it you must first agree to transfer to me all your valuables and possessions by pressing "Read more" (or whatever your local translation is) button bellow. Step 1: Build a prison with 1 holding cell Step 2: Build a mess hall with 1 mixer per superagent. Make sure there's no security loudspeakers there. Step 3: Capture the agent(s) by any way you like. Step 4: Order the captured agents to be tortued using mess hall mixer. Step 5: After tortue is complete order the agent to be recaptured. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you discover a way to get rid of them for good or you get bored because the game became too easy. Mess hall mixer have a very long tortue time, agents will not resist recapture for some time after that and your minions will have a nice, loyalty boosting show to watch. Make sure nothing interupts the process of tortue. Do not install security loudspeakers there and keep regular agents away from mess hall. The evil genius wants to personally oversee the that and any disruption may endanger his/her life.

Your own minions getting caught in traps is always a big problem, but something occurred to me while watching this video that I may have to try some time. Since agents tunnel into inaccessible areas, maybe building a low-heat room with a corner blocked off that has a door into a trap corridor would work to direct agents into there. Although then you'd have to find a way to clean out the body bags occasionally.

If you have any edges and gaps in your base structure that are too small to fit a full-sized room, you can build a tiny Barracks in them and fill it with just lockers. This is a good, harmless way to increase your maximum Minion capacity early on without making your primary Barracks too big. If you have one of these mini-Barracks near the entrance of your base, it can also double as Red Ivan's holding pen (or any other Henchman you want defending your entrance or training against enemy agents).

i usually put level 4 Doors near my Entrance - but not in the Main Floor, rahter on its sides, leading into a tiny room. This way curious Agents will be captured and dealt with in the nearby Weapon/Cooling Room. Also dont make long straight Floors, but curve them regulary. That way you reduce the shooting range of the Soldiers, and also can cover more of your Floors/Base with less Cameras

Make sure you and download "The Unofficial Patch" before you play. I personally like it because it allows the hotel casino, lounge and lobby to be built inside the base. Along with a bunch of other features. Oh and get the mod (remove unbuildable rock).

the last 3 super agents are immune to Health damage on hard mode, when you have minions in key government positions, they could potentially start to fight each other. Those fights can take a VERY long time, being immune to health damage XD

first line of defense against tourists and low skill agents is to have two wind traps at the end of the entrance way with the door into the base on the side of the corridor. any tourist wanders in should set off the traps and be harmlessly blown back out the entrance. Since they take no damage, no heat is generated.

I found this guide to be so helpful that I basically kept it open whenever I played the game. gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/915014-evil-genius/faqs/32868 Also, while defeating super agents id fun, keeping them knocked out and trapped in your base forever is even better. When a super agent drops to 0 hp, their endurance is set to 0, knocking them out, and their health will slowly regenerate. Once their have 100% hp, they will wake up. But you can stop that from ever happening. This can be done by building a special room for them, filled with promethius revenge (wall mounted flame thrower), ElectroShock Cannons and health beehive traps. These 3 traps are unique in that they can damage knocked out agents. So they will never fully recover those 100% hp, and stay immobilized and harmless on the floor.

They seriously didn't mention the strongroom trick? Your minions need briefcases from the strongroom to buy stuff. The further the strongroom is from the dock/helipad, the more time they will spend running back and forth. However, if you place your strongroom too close the the entrance of your base, you leave it vulnerable to agents who can steal your gold. The trick exploits the fact that all your minions need is easy access to the briefcase rack, while the agents need access to your gold. Make the strongroom so that there are two "entrances." One of these entrances should be near the front of your base and this "entrance" should be entirely blocked by a briefcase rack. This is will give your minions easy access to briefcases while the briefcase rack blocks agents from getting to your gold. To get to your gold, you need a second entrance. The second entrance should be positioned on another wall of the strongroom such that getting to this door requires going through a larger portion of your base. For added security, set this second door to be always guarded.

This is a cute idea, but let me add something: a third entrance with a briefcase rack! When you're doing a lot of financial transactions, it'll all go faster if your minions don't have to wait as much for the minion in front of them. Basically, with two briefcase racks, you can conduct business approximately twice as fast.

Missing tips.. Freezer room block all action of decreasing or increasing stats.. It useful for first entry at your base, since minions will carry dead bodies from outside (which decrease loyalty stats overtime)

@@DuckieMcduck It's easy, all you need are ventilator traps build in a circle and a freak trapped inside a room full of motion sensors connected to that - now you have free money.

The idea I had was to use cheats and to drop down a big army around the people to kill them off so they can't enter my base 😆
