Funny how different mechanics think I would have used all the used coils and Power packs but never a used kill switch they are too cheap and easy to get. Power packs are becoming hard to find. Thanks for taking us along on your journeys 👍

Well I'm glad that's done! Another great video. I'd go with the old-school kill switch also. The more complicated they make these things, the more that can go wrong.

With the motor off (no vibration) the switch checks ok) start it and the vibration of running allows it to short the switch shutting it down?

In case of "no spark", all the ignition components on that 30hp (but the power pack) can easily be tested (as you did) with a continuity checker (for wires) and a run of the mill ohmmeter - the manual gives you the acceptable ranges - for the charge / ignition coils along with the trigger. If they score OK, the power pack is faulty. I find that process to narrow down the field of testing to its essentials. Regards !

i know this is a rediculous question. i have a 60 hp johnson 1995. a beautiful lightly use motor. i replaced a burnt out power pack. a ran great for a minute but now just get a couple rpms out ofher. do you think it could be a throttle cable? or an adjustmenton throttle cable.

Hey. Thanks for tuning in! You say, "ran great for a minute"-- --then something happened! But What? My best advice would be to get an OMC Service Manual specific to the year/model before you start adjusting cables. Sounds like the new powerpak may have been fried again. Hopefully not. You'll need to diagnose things like, spark on all cylinders, fuel pump working, timing set properly, etc.. You'll also need the manual to set up your link & sync. If the cables/throttle linkage are not synchronized properly with the carbs it won't run. Speaking of carbs, they may need a good cleaning. The motor should idle nice around 800 rpm with no help from the throttle linkage. If it's not doing that then theres a problem somewhere. Look on ebay for a good used manual, It will save you time & money! Curious to know what happens. Thanks again !

if you have the parts lying around i get doing the conversion, but with what you said that flywheel cost , why not just get the uf powerpac? i have a couple of the uf engines and had to replace one powerpac no troubles since had a couple of the older ones too and could not tell any difference when both were working correct.

Hey. Thanks for tuning in! Hope you didn't think I paid for a flywheel! Hahaha Never! Just showing what they list for on marineengine.com. I used the one from my parts motor. The "ufi" for the most part aren't very popular, that's why CDI made a conversion kit, $170. They seem to be flying off the shelves on ebay, and yes, you can still use the original flywheel with the kit, I just swapped mine because it went with all the ignition parts/plate I swapped also, plus it looked better too! Thanks again & Stay Tuned !

Hey. Yeah just what the doctor ordered. Doc Jasper! Hahaha. I had forgot at first, then I said wait a minute I just got a bunch of parts! Yeeheee! I haven't had a chance to run it yet, with everything else going on, tree branch fell put a hole in my roof then the van is giving me trouble with a misfire in cylinder 1. It never ends! Hahaha, hopefully this weekend I'll get her on the lake if we don't get the hurricane! Thanks again & again ! Luv the video!
