Amazing world and story? LMAO. The world is bad, the story portrays that the world is full of Oblivion gates with Daedra and other monsters coming out to destroy the world yet the world in Oblivion is bright and vibrant with everybody being happy. In Morrowind, the world was dark, dusty and people were feuding and struggling with their own people. The story is also bad, the entire thieves guild questline makes no sense and the story doesn't either. In Oblivion the blades trust you, a prisoner sentenced to death, to deliver a priceless amulet rather than keep it for himself and sell it, all because the emperor "trusted" you.

Rhagos, King of Flames Manmer was actually a racist term used to taunt the Bretons back when the Nords were the slaves of the Ayleids. The Bretons were originally created due to elven masters impregnating their female Nords and so Bretons were originally born slaves. Therefore, labelling a Breton as a 'Manmer is very similar to describing a black man with as a 'n****r'

The Bretons are based by name on the Breton peoples of Northern France, a Celtic culture who are closely related with Welsh and Cornish people, and slightly less related to Irish and Scottish Gaels. However, their main reason for existing in TES is because they are the more 'magical' of the human races. They have significant improvements in spellcasting, and their racial power in Skyrim is that they are able to absorb a significant amount of magicka from incoming spells. The main way they differ visually from the Imperials or Nords is that they have dark hair like the Imperials, but lighter and less olive-shaded skin like the Nords, even though a Nord still can have darker hair. They have elvish ancestry from the time when humans settled into Tamriel from Atmora. I agree, visually and without the perk system, they are kinda redundant, but they are a necessary part of the lore of TES, and make the game more interesting. Side note - the Forsworn are actually half-Nord, half-Breton, as The Reach lies on the border with High Rock.

Not going to lie, skyrim felt like more of a first person action game rather than a real rpg. Some of your decisions don't even effect the outcome of the game. And yes Npcs act different but that's really all there is. Even if you did make a decision, I beg to differ that it really made a huge difference in skyrim. Yes, they added a new jarl or high king depending on what you chose, but meh. All in all I wouldn't really call it an rpg.

+Neon DemonBlade Well, I don't think that's enough to say that the game isn't a real rpg. Yes, 90% of the choices are shallow and have little to no impact on the world, or even the plot of the game, but still, there is leveling up, character customization, gear, stats, a class system... That's enough to call it a RPG.

I really REALLY love the changes of the Argonians through the games. Primarily Morrowind, Oblivian, and Skyrim where they get the Darwin Finch transformations. In Morrowind, it was a mostly wet, swampy land so they had more aquatic looks. More fishy and with fins. Then in Oblivian, a primarily wooden area, they have more birdlike features. Mostly just feathers but all of the Oblivian races looked weird. Lastly, in Skyrim, they have a draconic appearance to fit in with the theme. (Out of space)

Oblivion's graphics are abhorrent, just saying, not that the game itself is bad or anything as I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, why on earth did they make everyone look like the spawn of a potato?! Morrowind looks way better in my opinion, maybe not as detailed bit at least they had a better excuse of more developed lore, game play, and not as advanced software. Sorry I don't mean to rant or anything but overall I feel like Oblivion is just lack luster when compared to Morrowind and Skyrim.

Bretons are an elven-hybrid race, and their cultural link to historical, earthly people would be the Brythonic Celts. You can see this especially with their obsession with horned animals (particularly, the deer). On a sidenote: something interesting about Skyrim's Civil War storyline is that it seems to mirror the Scottish Civil War in many aspects. The practice of voluntary silence by the Greybeards also has some roots in Irish mythology. Some Druids and Irish kings were thought to have voices so powerful that they could destroy whole armies with a shout. If you're a history buff, there's a lot of nice nods to our world woven into the Elder Scrolls mythos. : ) So I absolutely see a reason for the Bretons to exist--they're a different culture entirely.

Altmer: Dynastic Chinese (Though in Skyrim they had a distinctly "Tolkien" feel.) Argonians: Mayan/Aztec Bosmer: Native American Bretons: Brythonic/Gaulish/Teeny bit Irish Dunmer: Feudal Japanese/Chinese (In Morrowind, they had "Tongs", which is a Chinese word for an organization or group. Morag Tong, Camonna Tong.) Ashlanders: Not a different race, but a sub-culture under the Dunmer category. Their culture is a miss mash of Native American and Babylonian, the former in reference to their housing, clothing and social structure, the latter to their name. Names such as Assallit Assunbahanammu. Imperial: Imperial Roman culture. Khajiit: Influences from Romani as well as Sephardic culture. Nords: Kind of a mesh of Viking and Scottish culture, with a little Irish mythology tossed in among it all. Orcs: Mongolian/a hint of Feudal Japanese in their armor, at least in Morrowind and Daggerfall. They brought a bit of that back in Skyrim, but they seemed to suffer a little from the Tolkien effect as well. Redguards: African Moors On a little aside, I'd wager the Skaal resemble true Vikings more than the Nords do. As I mentioned, the Nords seem to have a culture more similar to Scottish Highland people, which was influenced heavily by Viking invasion, but still retained Irish and Pictish roots. The Skaal harken back to the idea of the Viking Bear-Cult, followers of Odin. In fact, I can't help but think of Odin when they mention the All-Maker. I suppose it's the "All" - All Father, All Maker. Not uncommon in Northern European cultures, though, to have an "All" of something. Who knows, that's just my rambling take on it all. I could be horribly wrong.

Jess Stone About the Altmer there have been several arguments whether or not they are based off of Dynastic Chinese or Japanese. The argument has been going on for who knows how long, but it is a very interesting standpoint. I personally think it was a mix of both but I can see where you are coming from. I mean it is like the large debate over what and they may have had influenced the characters with several cultures and not just one taking a little here and there but overall focusing on one major culture. I have heard some many different arguments on it I have decided to stay neutral on the whole affair.

a few issues with this video... he's using a single picture to describe the entire race for each game. yes, the redguard in the pic looks like a teenager, but there was a feature in customization that allowed you to change the age. the portrait for the redguard could have been in his 70s and balding, but lets pick one that looks 19 and say they all look like they're in their teens. and stubbs logi is right, khajiit do have different "forms", as found in Lord of Souls or The Infernal City by Greg Keyes. some have a more human-like form while others have a giant cat-like form. in TES-IV the setting is Cyrodiil, a more civilized province than the other provinces, such as the harsh Skyrim which is why there was no war paint option in the customization. finally, and i picked up on it when he called ones silly, was the fact that each of the games take place not only in different time periods, but different locations. if you remember in TES-III, the argonians and khajiit had awkward shaped legs, but in other games, they are more human.

The bretons are special because in TES lore, they are a race descended from both elves and humans- they generally have pale skin and dark hair, and they have 50% magic resistance (I think), and are generally better at magic than the other human races. Also with samurai-like armor, the closest thing I can think of is the Blades armor, which pops up in Oblivion and Skyrim- they have sort of smooth-slope faceguards on the helmets, and layered bands of armor. Also the Akaviri stuff in general looks sort of asian, how they have the roofs on their buildings, and the ruined stone guarden in Sky Haven Temple in skyrim. Also, Cloud Ruler Temple in Oblivion looks like it has some asian influences- you should check it out ^w^ thanks for the video

Bretons aren't in the game because they represent a real-world cultural group, but rather as the mix between humans and elves. The half-elf is a standard RPG archetype, however in the Elder Scrolls the race doesn't appear as elven, as the cross-breeding happened a long time ago, and the bretons have much more human blood than elven.
