No, that was not the present, They gave names to Ununtrium, Ununpentium, Ununseptium, and Ununoctium. The new names were: Nihonium, Moscovium, Tennesine, and Oganesson, and the symbols are: Nh, Mc, Ts, and Og.

Yea. Polish too. Maria Sklodowska-Curie with his husband Pierre Curie find Polonium and Radium. Kazimerz Fajans and Oswald Helmut Gohring find protactinum.

Most elements react with others to form compounds, so discovering an element usually meant extracting it through some chemical process, which needed 18th/19th century science. Gold doesn't react much. It's just gold. No extraction needed.
