Dear Frank, This channel is a work of art. You should absolutely keep this going. You can reduce the frequency while maintaining the quality. I presume you already have a team of designers and someone manages this channel for you. Nothing too crazy and no need to completely redesign or render things. Anyways that's my 2c, keep it up!!

yes! please don't let this channel die... I think everyone watching appreciates the professionality and thought put into all of your videos; that being said, KZitem's roots are with amateurs being able to share ideas with relatable content. there's no need to be formal or have a polished off production with an edited script etc. I think having a more informal approach would be just as insightful as the most professionally produced and edited videos. Initial, guttural, unfiltered reactions are arguably better and more relatable for your audience. Might even become much more popular as any professionally produced (made for TV) video. I mean KZitem made an entire cottage industry of people opening boxes for the first time (unboxing videos).

Agreed on the headlamp covers - they should go all the way or not be there at all. Instead of looking mean, it just looks... disinterested. For the front 'strakes', I'd reduce the number to 3, soften them and make them more upswept to merge with the lines of the front fender. Only thing I'd change in the middle is make it a pure hardtop and extend the shark gills further up the roof, or increase the glass viewing area. For the rear, I'd have everything below the tail lights be pure black and increase the number of exhaust pipes to 4.

Great analysis as always, Frank. I think the location of the door handle is dictated by the air channel void in the door. It's really the only practical location to put it. Hello Frank, that is a very good shout about the 250 concept car, that’s definitely the influence on the rear. Question, given the choice (and the chance) would you have redesigned the Testarossa (and 348) with round rear lights rather than the horizontal slats? Personally I think that they still look great (and getting better with age) and depict and incredible 80’s icon styling with Pininfarina at the top of their game…
@FrankStephensondesign

Yes, Duncan, as a buttlifted version I would’ve probably considered it. Companies try so hard to establish a design lineage that it would be a shame to give up a very recognisable feature, albeit always technologically modernised. 👍

Good observations - I would give it a 5 out of 10! Like a lot of modern car design short-term drama seems to take precedent over refinement and aesthetic purity . There is a feeling of immaturity about the design as if it was a Ferrari as imagined by an over-indulgent adolescent.

This is the first time I've seen Mr. Stephenson and the existing Daytona SP3 just 30mins ago. I am delighted to hear such criticism from the professional designer to the point. I never made it to the career but I extremely enthusiastic of auto design. I love it when Ferrari put in theme element of the past race cars, so even if it has flaws it still excuses itself to the retro feeling. Here are what I strongly agree with Mr. Stephenson: -The eyelids are unnecessary and hesitant, they eliminated the sense of competitiveness in weight of a pure race car it refers to. They should be bold, large and effective for weight. The day light driving lights and also the the tail lights are flat lines and that is not a bold identity of the outstanding car. Flat lines can be found on rental cars so sad to say. Also this goes to the flat slots on the cheeks and all on the rear cover. This car has beautiful smooth curves on its fenders but my eye guide stuck with the slots for being out of place in race car element. You can find slots on aftermarket parts but not on one of a kind million dollars car. This will be a significant flaw of the design soon after the praises of it calms down within years and people will just keep talking about it's ugly design right there. Maybe the flat black sculpted mesh would serve better but I would recommend solid body color. Door openers are dumb thinking indeed like no one said anything against it till it's too late. What will the owner has to do to open the door on bad weather. Like you need a tissue paper to poke the button everytime you come to your million dollars car. Not to mention if you park it in the air conditioning garage and feeling like to get in by bending down eight inches off the floor for it. After a few tries you start to loose it's charms and its cleverness work of art and value of ownership plus satisfaction. In principle of design besides safety, ergonomics and practicality at effectiveness are essential, time will proof that it is higher than beauty. I have not seen it's engine cover open up yet but assuming from the structure line it opens up by lifting which requiring two adults just like the F-40. Impressive display, yes. Practicality for enthusiastic owner, no. Don't tell me millionaires don't want to see air filter ever. I like the driving position height that is not as sacrificing the forehead wind as of Lambos but I can tell from the driver glance that he is too low and cannot see the road floor given race car low. Some might say who needs visibility in a beautiful race car, I do and I request it as a designer and require it as an agile driver. Thank you Mr. Stephenson for your professional critic. I do appreciate it amongst the rest of all praises.

Frank, I love your videos and while I love the redesigns I think your verbal opinions deliver 90% of the benefit with a lot less work so I'm happy as long as you keep doing videos like this. And I felt exactly the same way - this looks like they tried to fit a bunch of disparate stuff into one design and it's not cohesive. I love the stance and overall proportions of this car, but it's just too cluttered with elements tied to the past. It feels like the started with something simple and just kept adding stuff instead of whittling it down to something more pure and unified.

I think this is the first time I disagree with frank. For me this car is stunning. I love it.

Great funky soundtrack at the end of the vid. Completes the bad-ass-ness of the Daytona!

I agree, especially the awful truck mirrors! Oh please keep the channel going! We don't mind a slight change as long as you stay here! Your insight is brilliant!

I like your take on the SP3, I never would have noticed those small design details. Just subbed and going to look at some other videos. Thanks!
