Malaysians are better driver haha, i kinda agree. In my opinion, I would say countries with chaotic traffic situations have better drivers than ours. Some of us tend to assume the road laws will protect us and treat the road as if its our own. I know i m guilty of that sometimes but when i drive overseas, I am extra careful and alert. So blame it on strict laws in sg, not us haha :P

For an Italian to surrender Italian citizenship is a categorical mistake. Italian citizenship is unique based on lineage. Meaning that every descendant of an Italian from 1861 onwards can be an Italian citizen. Italy has a good passport also. Surrendering this is basically surrendering your entire lineage for decades and centuries into the future. The exception is that if his children are still Italian and he is Singaporean, the lineage does not break.
@hiroyukishinichi9873
Жыл бұрын
That is one view sure....but any one has the freedom to kick start a new lineage, one that starts right from him or her! His/ Her 'ancestors' also migrated to Italy or what was originally called (if we want to trace a long way back, every human came from Africa, therefore lineages get 'broken' all the time). He definitely should keep the Italian cultures, they are great and adds to Singapore's diversity, but he is Singaporean because he embraces the Singaporean values and principles.

the best time to migrate to singapore was 20,30 years ago......back then the o.g. singapore still existed....back then singapore had that idyllic and peaceful charm in the east,distinguished refined atas quiet isolated feel and the old british colonal and modern oriental asian city feel in the center...... today i have no idea why u are here, u might as well be anywhere else in the world, the same boring ass generic cookie cutter shopping mall once u seen one u seen them all "city" that exist just about in every country.....yeah it has great public transport but what else is there?not to mention the suffocating hordes of people....... singapore had an authentic old world charm to it.....something lost by the layers and layers of concrete that has piled on the last fifteen years.....and everywhere u go in Singapore nowadays is just foreign faces......i mean say what u what people act like singapore is multi racial u cant tell who is who apart maybe for the clueless foreigners that just arrived in the past 10 or 15 years.....but any true blue singaporean,a local of this island can tell right away,whether or not ur foriegn, with 70 to 80 percent certainty ur country of origin just by ur skin tone and fashion and mannerism and 90 percent certainty the minute u open ur mouth right down to ur individual country of origin from south east asia to eastern europe. dont give me that b.s. that u are singapore, ur about as singaporean as i fantasize i am australian or british or russian....even with a passport and citizenship......people are the product of their land, it is something that is extremely extremely difficult to change,even if on the suface u manage to put on a mask.......but in essence,deep down inside are u really?the way u think,ur thought processes,instinctual,subconcious or unconcious can u say its the same as a true blue Japanese born and bred there throughout his formative life?.......no u are just wearing a mask,a banana or branana or whananana or blackanana or whatever.....something masquerading as a .........the world needs real genuine culture forged and developed by people who stay together for many many decades and centuries even millennias.....undeniable culture ......not a bunch of global citizens and global generic cookie cutter cities full of wannabes and weeaboos and fakes and nisemonos whom come from countries all over the world but coincidentally all speak english and have different fetishes of japanese korean and asian cultures!!!!!!GTFO!!!!!!!!

Inevitably a extremely wise, woke, progressive forward looking critical thinker will appear to lecture us lesser mortals on the superior ways of the world. Talking down has never been proven to be effective persuasion but yet superior beings continue to employ this method. One questions if they want to convert others to their cause or to simply feel good while expressing superiority. That said, I’m so glad we have people like Stalliom8881, who will lead us through the darkness into the light.

My grandfather used to live around Petain. My grandmother and him were separated so as a child she would bring me to visit him. Then the flat he lived in was near those Peranakan ones but they were low rise like Tiong Bahru’s. I only realised later on that it was around a red light district. I recognised the Bamboo bar or lounge or something (not there anymore) & that’s how I recognised the place as an adult. Serendipitously, hubby and I also worked freelance with a production house that used to be situated there. I remember near the alley where the hookers were, there was an ice cream uncle selling his ware from behind his bicycle. As a nod to our dating years, our Nonya heritage and a nod to my grandfather (that I don’t think my mum realises), I took my wedding photos around the Peranakan homes there with the beautiful tiles as our backdrop.
