Freeze Panes in Excel will lock rows or columns or both. It is a necessity when you have a large worksheet. To freeze your header row, click one row below it, go to the View Tab and click Freeze Panes - then click Freeze Panes again. To unfreeze, you can be anywhere in your worksheet. To freeze columns, when you have a lot of columns and need to scroll to the right, click the column to the right of the last column to freeze, click the View tab, click Freeze Panes, and click Freeze Panes again. To freeze both columns and rows, click a cell. The cell will be in the row you want to freeze and the column you want to freeze.
