Nice video Wyn. I like your style. The thing that has caught me out a few times is the Custom Sort does not travel with the workbook. So if sharing the workbook with others they will not get the sorted buttons.

Well, now I tried it, but it did not work. The refference to the AGGREGATE column did not provide me 0 or 1. All the cells gave the same answer, after slicing. @@AccessAnalytic

As a workaround, you can add the list of slicer items to the data model and set the sort order there. You'll need to then create a relationship with the table you're using, and bring the slicer in from the secondary table rather than the original table, but this way the custom sort order travels with the workbook.

@@JohnWickXL - that is very true. It often comes down to whether it’s worth the effort. The other option is running VBA to temporarily to add the custom list to the users’s excel on workbook_open. But that just doesn’t seem like a good option.

Fantastic insight. Key learning points: 1) Custom Sorting of the Slicer Tabs 2) Use of the Aggregrate function to account for only the visible rows for the Slicer. 3) Fancing the Slicer Tab.

Great video as always, love the aggregate / filter tip. For the order of the tabs, not an elegant solution, but you could always number them 1.Wyn 2.Access Analytics etc.

Cheers Ron, yeah I was doing that originally but thought this was a nice trick, it’s as shame it only works on your own Excel ( not for others as they won’t have the custom sort ).

Wyn, this is awesome. I watch many video's but never saw one where you could harvest the selected value of a slicer. I made this once with an extra helper table, but the AGGREGATE 5 solution is excellent. I also liked the advanced slicer settings, made it look like tabs...

Do you just hide the rows below the visuals so they don't show up if someone scrolls down?

I’d probably put on a different sheet. General approach : separate sheets for data, workings, presentation
