All children and young people have the right to education and those with additional support needs have the right to extra support so they can get the most from school.
But we know from our helpline that some children with additional support needs are missing out on their right to learn for a range of reasons, including
• Being sent home frequently (called unlawful exclusion),
• Being placed on a part-time timetable for long periods of time,
• Because the right support is not in place to help them attend school,
• Being unable to attend school (for mental or physical health reasons) but not being able to access learning when they are off.
If your child is missing school, then join our helpline team for advice about the steps you can take to work with your school and local authority to get the right support in place for your child This webinar provides parents and carers with important information about:
• Your child’s rights to education and support
• Dealing with unlawful exclusions

• How to work with your child’s school or your local authority to get the right support in place so your child can attend school
• Accessing learning while your child is off school.
This webinar is aimed primarily at parents and foster/kinship carers but may be of interest to those supporting them or young people themselves.
