A New Year gift from my side - coverage of the Electrified MG section from Villupuram to Egmore. I was traveling in Nellai Exp. (BG) from Tirunelveli to Chennai and my train was around an hour late at Villupuram. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise since I was able to relish this section in the day time, and capture YAM1 locos & MG EMUs to my heart's content. At that time, the section break-up was as follows:
- Villupuram to Chengalpattu : electrified MG and non-electrified BG
- Chengalpattu to Tambaram : double electrified MG and non-electrified BG
- Tambaram to Egmore : triple electrified MG and electrified BG
Video starts off with my train entering Villupuram along with the MG Sethu Exp. and ends with my last sighting of a YAM1 parked at Egmore. Be sure to enjoy the following:
- YAM1 attachment at Villupuram followed by swapping of pantos
- YAM1 locos hauling passenger/express trains
- YAM1 locos parked at Villupuram, Chengalpattu and Egmore
- Plenty of MG EMUs in action including a few of them racing with my train
- Footage of various stations along the way including suburban Chennai
- MG OHE regulation arrangements using either three or four masts
- Halts at Tindivanam, Melamaruvathur, Madurantakam, Chengalpattu, Tambaram
- MG bridge across the Palar river
This footage always draws mixed emotions from me - happy that I was able to be up, close and personal with MG electrics for one last session, and sad that I will never see them in action again.
