this video came out just at the right time. i thought the whole concept of becoming a Nazir was not relevant nowadays....let alone, we are now learning about korbunous.... which is Deffinitly!!! not relevant nowadays. this was an awesome video!!! and it SUPER CHARGED ME to finish the second half of Gemerah Nazir.

The same question came up for us this week on the nazir. I mistakenly said I didn't think anyone could be a nazir today. The above discussion is good. Also most poignant was that the mitzvah of nazir was not placed onto the children.

i dont know if this is his reason, but i saw in a few seforim, most notably Kav HaYashar, that there's an inyan to have rings with certain names of Hashem that serve as a shemira against keri. in the case of a nazir, i would assume he must do everything to guard himself from this (shemiras einayim, etc.)

ISRAEL! Everyone knows that before the coming of the Messiah, Gog Magog must fight against Israel (Ezekiel 38:8-11). Will come to the country (11 And you shall say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates) What is needed for the country of Israel to become as described? « Ezekiel 37:14 And I will put my Spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I will place you in your own land: and ye shall know that I, Jehovah, have spoken it and performed it, saith Jehovah »! To do this, you need to trust not the interpreters, but the Torah (Tanakh) given by God! Pay attention to the petition of the Sons of Israel before God: «Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD your God will raise up to you a Prophet from the middle of you, of your brothers, like to me; to him you shall listen; 16 According to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17 And the LORD said to me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. 18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brothers, like to you, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him »! The statement about a simple prophet does not stand up to any explanation: Why then do the Sons of Israel remember the events at Horeb? What are the sons of Israel afraid of if this is an ordinary prophet? Why would the Lord agree with them and talk about a man like Moses? It is 100% messenger of the Covenant: «Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom you delight in: behold, he shall come, said the LORD of hosts. 2 But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap»! Yes, yes, it's Him! At Mount Horeb, they were afraid of Him, but they did not recognize Him in human form, the Jews completely exclude the appearance of God in the flesh! « Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, said the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was an husband to them, said the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, said the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, said the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more»! Yes, yes, that's Him, that anointed one (Daniel 9:24-26) who will take on all the crimes of the world: The Books of the Prophet (53 Isaiah ) are not about the sufferings of Israel, about Its sufferings for the sins of the whole world: The New Testament «The Gospel John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life »! & « 1 Timothy 3:16 And confessedly, great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifested in the flesh, was justified in the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the Gentiles, was believed on in the world, was received up in glory »! Read the Scripture where the Messiah says: The Lord God is looking for people to worship Him in Spirit and truth! (The Gospel John 4:4-26; Mark 1:15) There is simply no other way to achieve a peaceful life on the land of Israel! « Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look on me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn»!

Yes, a person whose hair doesn't grow can be a nazir; it's only that whatever hair there is (on the head, I believe) can't be cut. The nazir in this video said that his wife is also a nazir.

@@yoshc9 You have a solid point, and untimely this problem (of yahurah(arrogance/lack of humility)) comes up often with similar mitzvos like nazir, techeles (like you have mentioned), people who wear teffilin during Mincha (I have observed this). Rav Moshe in his famous cholov Yisroel teshuva even says one should not keep cholov Yisroel out of arrogance (he says “Lo mipnei yehurah” if I remember properly), so With something like this it can be hard to distinguish sometimes, but if he truly is usually private (as he says in the video) aside from this interview, and it really is for the Mitzvah lishmah, then it might not be much of a problem. The Gemara in nedarim 9b tells the story of shimon hatzadik, (a real cohen galol, he did not bribe his way into the position), and he would never eat the nazirs Korbon (with an exception) because he seems to have had a similar concern as you. I would recommend learning that Gemara and it might explain and help you understand the issue better then I can. The aggaditah (sham) does seem to support what you are saying (which is also the general Halacha in many other cases), unless the person in that case is truly 100% truly doing it lishma.
