Sweet video! I have been trying to find something on this unit to see if it’s proven or not. I have unit already but not installed yet… hoping to install that and fast lift pump within May of 2023 sometime on my 2015 LML Duramax !

Don't forget to look at the screen for metal shavings. If you find any you need a new CP4 or get the CP3 conversion. I installed a Beans sump, FASS pump ( I use CAT filters) , and the fuel filter delete under the hood also for hopefully added protection. I use some fuel additives (Hot Shots Diesel Extreme) also. I'm going to have the CP3 conversion done soon (tax refund). It is made for emissions intact now. Good luck 🤞

Glad that it helped. Did you also install a sump with the FASS. I went with the newer Beans sump. It felt weird drilling a hole in the fuel tank, but it's been a little over a year and no problems. Take care.

@@mrkanook9226 no sump kit. Maybe in future. Just more concerned about the cp4 pump. If pump decides to go will do cp3 conversion

Great video! Definitely helpful, planning on installing mine soon. Do you have to drain the freon to remove the compressor?
@mrkanook9226
4 жыл бұрын
No. There are 4 bolts that hold it down/in place. First loosing the belt, then remove the 4 bolts and just flip the compressor over and out of the way. Good Luck

Did you have to bleed any air out? Or did you have any issues after install?

Nope. But I also have a fuel pump (don't know if that makes a difference). No problems after install.

How did you get to the bolt in the back toward the motor?
@mrkanook9226
4 жыл бұрын
I pushed the Exergy down by hand first, put the bolt in towards the front next and only ran it in to help hold in place, then put the next bolt in the hole and it lined up. If you get one in and don't snug or tighten there should be wiggle room for the second.

Mr Kanook sorry I should’ve been more specific. I’m talking about removing that one in the back. Went and got a long gone T25 skinny extension today. Hope it works lol

@@up2specks978 Sorry that I missunderstood your question, yes you might need a long extension like the one I show in the video. I tried it first with just the long bit and then I added the extra length to it to make it easier. A good magnet will also help hold the bolts on the bit. Hope it goes well

Didn’t see anything significant on the old screens, did notice one had a little dent in it and the other looked like it may have been trying to fray a bit. Either way glad to have it in, also have a Fass installed as well. While I don’t wish CP4 failure on anyone I would like to hear a success story about them. Haven’t heard or read anything one way or the other. Thanks for the video, having that extension is a must to do that job your way.

Wonder if anyone can help me out. Just changed it, started the truck afterwards, only ran it for a minute. Cleaned up, went to use my truck, drove about 200ft and it died. I thought maybe it was a priming issue, primed it a dozen times, also bled it at the Schrader valve at the top of the block but no go. I did get a small amount of air when I first bled it. But there’s none now. I seated the assembly good before I put the screws back in. Not getting any codes. Just won’t run. Any pointers would be great.

Disconnect both batteries on the negative side and give at least 10 minutes, look around in the area you were in make sure nothing got bumped. Reconnect batteries and try to start again.

Appreciate the response. I went ahead and put the old one back in and same result. It won’t start. Read your response. Tried that, same thing. Checked all fuses. Checked all connections. I’m stumped.

So no codes, no start after computer reset, or reinstall of original piece? Do you have a fuel pump? Does it crank with no start, like there is maybe air somewhere? I think that I read on the Duramax forum of this similar situation, I would look over there and not give up.

So, did mine today. Had a bit of a time, and lost one of the stock T25 bolts. Good thing the replacement comes with two new ones. My question is, did you get yours to sit flush before you tightened the bolts? And did you have an issue with air in the lines? Mine simply would not prime. I'm ashamed to say, but it took a quick shot of starting fluid.
@mrkanook9226

Mine sat flush, when I sat it down I jiggled it back and forth till it didn't jiggle only turned. Did you happen to look at the filter to see anything? I had no air in the lines, fired right up.

@@mrkanook9226 had a very small shaving, nothing major. 100k on the truck the factory reg looked pretty good. I cleaned the surface before as best I could with an artist brush, and I think where I ran into an issue may have been using a clean rag to swab out the hole. That little puddle of fuel that was there probably would have helped.
