I like that trekking pole attachment I was taught years ago in alpine military training to loop ski pole wrists strap over other pole and make a bipod. Nice attachment

I have dropped my bipod leg into a trekking pole loop to create a makeshift monopod out of necessity for a quick short range shot, but it is not nearly as stable as this setup.

Hey fellas. Good video, love the podcast and am saving to buy one of your packs. Noticed you flagged the cameraman slightly around 1:17 when you set the rifle down. Then really flagged him when you picked the rifle back up. Easy mistake and I’m sure you cleared the rifle before filming but… safety 1st. Thanks again for the great podcast, videos and packs.

The exact setup I used to make a 463-yard shot last Friday on a colorado 4x4 mule deer. Great tip!

Just an FYI - the Wieser Precision quick-stix doesn't work on the Black Diamond Ultra Distance carbon poles. They are too narrow vs. the standard diameter of most poles.

Great info! How do you change things when making an up mountain shot? Do you just adjust your trekking poles higher, or lay your bag differently?

Good question, Dave. The obvious answer is that you have to lower your rear support and/or raise your front support. That could mean laying the pack on it's side, instead of upright. Obviously the trekking poles have a lot of height adjustability built-in. The other factor to consider is your body position. If you can't get prone when shooting uphill, I have found that kneeling is usually more effective (and more comfortable) than sitting. You can get lower in a kneeling position by bending more at the waist, opening up more at the legs, etc.

@@ExoMtnGear Thank you for the information! I've been using a Tri-Clawps on a tripod, but it would be nice to have a solution not requiring me to haul a tripod around sometimes.
