I worked those same halls went in same rooms. Never once did I see a ghost. I could hear pumps, oxygen machines and electrical balests and TVs. I seen lights flicker, and reflections off of glass and metal cabinets. But never a ghost, what you believe in your mind will fill in gaps.

I once was possessed by the spirit of Elvis. They had to call in a priest from Las Vegas. When he arrived, he was wearing a rhinestone studded jumpsuit and a cheap black wig with sideburns. He opened up what looked to be a guitar case. The priest pulled out a fried banana sandwich and he began hitting me with it and yelling "RETURN TO SENDER! RETURN TO SENDER!" I started howling like a hound dog but it sounded like strange music; like some kind of unchained melody. It was if I was the Devil in disguise. I then began writhing and convulsing. I was all shook up. This went on for about an hour until, finally, Elvis leaped out of my body. It knocked my blue suede shoes right off my feet. It was over. The priest was finally able to declare that Elvis had left building. But then he did something odd. He leaned over and whispered in my ear, "love me tender." I replied, NO! I'm an adult.

Also: I once got a 7' Burmese python caught in my long hair at a pet store when I was about 13. Considering how society looked towards long haired men in the midst of the satanic panic, that was actually one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. Just broadly speaking, Socialism as a concept has only been around for two hundred years, so let us just assume you are right, and socialism *is* the root of all evil. Even with this in mind, Religion would still have hundreds of centuries through which it has tortured, raped, murdered, traumatized, abused, and brainwashed not millions, but BILLIONS of people. Now, to get back to what you were saying, what exactly are the "horrors" of socialism? You are telling me that the freeing of the proliteriat and the abolishment of a societal hierarchy is a "bad" thing? That for us to be bound by monopolies and for us to be forced to buy human necessities is an inherent good thing? You do realize nearly every authoritarian dictator was religious in some way? Hitler was a christian, Mao and Stalin both were extremely spiritual. Religion taints politics and leads to things such as fascism. Read a book, and no, not the bible.

@@memesarekeem socialism as a concept has been around since the beginning of human civilisation. Unless you want to deny the existence of states, governments, city states, whatever collectives you can think of. Socialism is PRO hierarchy, hierarchies can only exist thanks to socialism and the state. Socialism has nothing to do with "the workers." That's Marxism, one VARIANT of socialism. Socialism creates monopolies. Corporations are socialist entities. Socialism is root cause of all evil. Religion would have NO power without socialism. The only reason religion could ever even be a problem is thanks to socialism. Socialism ITSELF is a religion. Capitalism is the objective truth, capitalism is atheism, socialism is a deadly cult.

A (LW) fundie friend of mine once took me to see a Bob Larson “exorcism”. It was hilarious, though I had to repress my laughter throughout, which was tough. Haha! It was run exactly like a Pentacostal church sermon: He began by whipping up the crowd (ALL fundies), lots of “Can I get an Amen?!”, and at one point, even chastised someone in the audience for talking back about how “tattoos are portals for demons” is in the Bible. The woman he finally got around to “exorcise” was a SUPER obvious plant and a horrible actor. The REAL problem here is that America just doesn’t have a positive or honest medical system OR general attitude about mental health problems, not when it comes to violent lunatics who go postal OR depressed folks who can’t cope with adulting, nevermind anyone convinced they're "possessed". This is the result: Millions of fundies who think demons are real and “The Exorcist” was a documentary. (Good job, Friedkin!)

Werewolf. Totally. But to the topic at hand - I once had to visit a hospital ER. I won't get into the diagnosis, but I was in the worst pain of my life. I was beyond giving a shit about keeping quiet and was rocking back and forth in my chair, groaning rather loudly. Now this was in the deep south, so someone, I believe this was someone working for the hospital, strode toward me, took my head in their hands, (without permission) and prayed for Jesus to heal me. This of course he did not do. When I failed to show any reaction, she gripped my head painfully tight and repeated the prayer, louder this time. The message was clear. Either I could find it within myself to fake feeling better, or she would rip my head off. I had bigger problems than getting into a religious argument in an ER waiting room, and didn't think I could press a case for assault. So I clenched my teeth and bit back the pain, going quiet for a few moments. This was enough to get her the fuck away from me, and an hour or so later I finally got the care I needed.

When i was told about this channel originally from a friend about 2 years ago I wasn't ready. I was passing through judaism on my way out of religion completely. But here i am now. Still battling some RTS. But Embracing this lol. It seems something is deep and mysterious about the mind and consciousness. If god exists, its just our own mind. We all want answers to the unaswerable. Is science pointing towards metaphysics and the quantum level and understanding that more? Where does our energy come from? I digress. One thing for sure the church has no answers to real life. The bible is about astrology and the zodiac. Its is deeply philosophical. Describing human anatomy and the things of the physical world in a very symbolic way. Im getting into astrology now. The bible says god is light. Light comes from the sun moon planets stars... light is a form of energy. God is energy. What were the ancients telling us? Look up bill donahue. Thank for this video aron.

We agreed so long as at least one of us was there to help her. When I helped her on occasion I would mumble at the garden gnomes just to where she could hear. She asked who I was talking to and I pointed to the gnome she called Fred. I told her Fred said he's going to open the gate at night so the bunnies could eat the fresh growth. Fred ended up at the bottom of the stock tank. When my uncle(her son) asked why she just threw a garden gnome in the pond she responded with Fred always has been a troublesome smartass. Yep I'm ornery but I learned a lot of my smartass skills from my grandma (sadly now passed).

The first horror film where a sweet young innocent girl became the scary monster of the story. I really enjoyed the movie, just as I always enjoyed fantasy fiction as an escape for a few hours. But, when the movie ended and the credits rolled, not a soul in the building was talking. Slowly, everyone filed out of the theater like silent zombies with their minds spinning from what they had just witnessed. Only then, did I realize that the majority in the theater had had their very souls rocked and they had been seriously disturbed by the film. The film didn't disturb me, but the reaction of other theater goers, really was very scary.

I believe you're absolutely right about this. Except, I've been an atheist since I was a teenager, and even at that time, I've experienced paranormal things happen that are completely unexplainable. However, that doesn't mean I believe that it's a "ghost" or "spirit" or anything having to do with religion. I think that there are still things out there that we simply don't understand yet, and eventually we probably will. Maybe it's leftover energy, such as described in Stonetape Theory. There are definitely things we have yet to figure out, so I wouldn't automatically say that somebody who experiences something paranormal is delusional. However, anybody automatically contributing it to demons or religion in general is definitely delusional.

This may appear to be a flippant comment but I'm actually being serious. Why doesn't Aron reach out to this priest or whatever he is and invite him to perform an exorcism on Aron. If the priest sincerely believes what he is saying he would be in no doubt that Aron is under the influence of Satan, he would have no reason to deny the request. The priest could summon the virgin mother and drive the devil away. Let's have the whole thing recorded on video so that everybody could see the result.

From the thumbnail, I was expecting more discussion on exorcism films. Not that this wasn’t a great video, but I would be very interested some day in hearing your views on films like the Exorcist and the Conjuring movies. I absolutely love horror movies, but they do often take a pro-Christian stance. Do you regard it as harmless fun or propaganda? I love to hear the thoughts of you and other atheists on this.

Can it be both? My mom grew up in Apalachia in the 1950s, they were too poor to have a TV, and any church was acceptable to attend, as long as it was church. She wasn't a congregant, but the Serpent Handlers were the place to be. Sometimes lemons, when properly handled, make a pretty good lemonade.

I always feel that movies like the conjuring movies are christian propaganda. I really wouldn't care except that they always seem to discourage scepticism. The sceptics in the films are always depicted as fools and bad guys.

@@cullenarthur8879 I think that’s because movies like the Exorcist would be pretty boring had the skeptics been shown to be right. “Nope, she’s not possessed, it’s just schizophrenia”…The End.

7:48 To be clear it's important to pick a lane if you will, so which is it? Is religion just a text written to be taken literally created by/for authoritarian figures to keep their subordinates in check, or is it a text to be taken in a metaphysical understanding that means something beyond what the words say, just like how Uncle Sam is more than just the picture of the man he is.

The satanic temple does not speak for satanists. Those "seven fundamental tenets" aren't very satanic at all. If you make a mistake you should try to rectify it? Why? No, a Satanist would often just learn from it, and move on. Rectifying mistakes only makes sense if it's worth doing so, but that tenet makes a blanket statement, as if all mistakes should be universally rectified, and it sounds very religious or idealistic, and not satanic. "Nobility" is not satanism. Satanism is about self-realization, foremost. It is about the wisdom to be intelligently ego-centric. The satanic temple does not follow these ideals as well as LaVey did with the original Satanism. And as he himself pointed out, there is no reason to try to "improve" or "adjust" satanism, and our nature has not fundamentally changed in the last half-century. The satanic temple is guilty of that stupidity. Because, yes, it seems the satanic temple is "satanism for dummies", and are in many ways doing exactly what satanism is supposed to be against.

@@kuromyou7969 From the perspective of the original satanism, most other satanist offshoots are not quite satanic. They're imitations that have been turned into something that appeals to other people. I explained how, if very briefly. It's kind of like creating a music genre and calling it "rock", when it isn't like rock is. Perhaps you should pick a different name, instead. That's my point. The satanic temple is not "satanism", it's something similar, but still something else.

Hallucinations are so much more powerful than people realize, and so g they think it must be real because its so lifelike, especially in how you remember it. And also hallucinations are often much more than visual - they can be auditory and tactile and olfactory too, so when the public perception is that hallucinations are mainly visual, so when they’re bot that makes them more convinced that what they’re experiencing is real. But I have lots of first hand experiences with hallucinations that I know are hallucinations, even in the moment. I get very frequent sleep paralysis and so i absolutely get why people believe they’re hallucinatory experiences are real. And said sleep paralysis for me is usually not very visual, bur. Instead mostly tactile and auditory. Hallucinations are powerful and, if you don’t know that they’re such, very deceptive

Demons must be real... Who else abused all those children, it couldn't have been the clergy, they're so pious and good. Exorcisms are just a part of the grift that good things only come from the church, it's what they do... "Something good happened to you? ... You should thank God cos it wouldn't have happened without him"... "Something bad happened to you? ... You should have prayed more you sinner, Gods not to blame, YOU did this." ... This leads believers to the conclusion that they are such bad people that the church is the only place they can find good things in their life... They literally steal everything good about you, claim it for themselves and leave you with only the bad, this makes you dependant on them for your happiness, which keeps you coming back and keeps you tithing... It's a very cruel system... Exorcisms are just a way that they drive that message home.

Anton Lavey in the Satanic Bible stated that Satan has always been blamed for the evils of our world. And that the Church relies on him. However I love how the Bible makes the case of: God, the murderer and evil tyrant. Satan is the bestowed of knowledge and stands up to God and has only killed a handful of humans, at the command of God.
