Thank God more therapists and other medical professionals are willing to collaborate. So many have been possessive of their findings. People fall deep between the cracks when we don't share and blend discoveries and creations. Traditional medicine could do nothing but treat my symptoms, cut out disease and fuse a wandering spine. The same for addictions; frustratingly for all, the best the old system could do was wait for a crisis or shame me into submission. That was 20 years ago, and it's been exciting (frustrating) to watch the evolution of therapies.

I love the collaborative nature of this - two people coming at the same issues through their careers, with two different sets of language surrounding that, but finding a commonality of perspective, goal and approach. The fact that they can celebrate that, rather than try to each own it as 'theirs' is beautiful. Coming from science where competition is fierce, we need more of this because, where competition used to drive development, now we have reached a stage where we are better together and competition brings us less than collaboration can. But we need to be bold enough to envisage a world where, progressively rather than mathematically, one plus one can equal three. We are collectively greater than the sum of our (individually valuable and significant) parts (although this is no slight on the parts, all of which are critically important).

I have been very close to people who've suffered great trauma, seeking my support to grow through the healing, but my heart breaks because the more I open my heart and listen, the more it seems to trigger in them a fear of abandonment. So they abandon me instead. These souls so frequently find me and my heart has always been open. But I need greater wisdom and balance in this. I need to be done with abandoners. It's so very hard on me

How do you stop the cycle of trauma. How do I stop letting the effects of my trauma not be traumatizing to my offspring
