Most patchy beards are simply beards that havent had enough time to grow and fill in. Instead of just letting them fill in alot of guys get tired of it and shave it off. I have been guilty of it myself in the past.

Another thing I've learned is that your perception of what your beard looks like is not what others see, they arent seeing what you see and stress about when you're staring at yourself in the mirror. The easiest way to lose the battle is to look at yourself and start to analyze every little bit, step away from the mirror and let it grow.

In my school, I’ve organized an event in which all the male teachers have grown out facial hair for No Shave November, and tomorrow, November 30, we’re having students bid on the teachers, and if they win, they get to shave the teacher’s beard into whatever they want. All the money we get is going to charity. I was inspired to do this from this channel, and just thought the community might find this cool!

Great videos on this channel. I've had short stubble for last ten years or so with the occasional attempt to grow it out. Now at 30 years old with the help of KZitem I've discovered that patches are normal and will fill in. No one in my family has ever grown a beard. My attempts always saw me give up around day 20 and trim it down to stubble saying "maybe in another 6 months I'll try again". So thank you for these videos. Seeing how someone who clearly can grow a good beard grow it and the patches even they have has encouraged me to let it go. Around day 26 was where I started to notice patches begin filling in. I'm actually getting excited to see what 60 and 90 days will look like.

About 30 days in here, and the longest I have ever managed to keep a beard was about 3 months. You are lucky that your hair naturally stops that high on your throat, mine grows way under the adam's apple, and in addition to that, it also grows A LOT more curly and thicker there in comparison to my cheeks, which are very patchy even at 35 years old. I never know whether I should start carving in a neckline and eventually get irritated of the itching throat skin, or let it all grow naturally and only trim the mustache once in a while. One thing I have learned, after over 4-5 years of on and off bearding, is that whenever I start obsessing too much about the shape, thickness and what not, I tend to get frustrated and shave it all off. Sometimes just letting it do it's own thing REALLY is the best thing you can do.

I'm a few years too late but the pattern on my cheeks and my neck is that I have one spot above my adams apple to the right a little bit that grows slightly farther down than where my neck line should be, and I have exactly 2 hairs on my right cheek that grow above where it's supposed to. Makes trimming easy, just that spot near my adams apple and the 2 hairs on my right cheek that are a little high

My hair stared receding at 22 at 32 I shaved it off . At 40 I grew my first beard but the just for men beard dye made my skin itch so the 4 week beard had to go, I would of rather have no beard then grey bits in it . Several times I have grown a beard and using several dyes it made me itch like crazy . I so much wanted a beard but couldn't stand the thought of a grey beard until I was like 70. Then 6 weeks ago I accidently found a Greg berzinsky video and thought he looked a cross between God and Father Christmas. I put my razer away and 6 weeks later my facial hair is 95% white (not grey ) at 56 I love my White beard . Im now going to try and go for a Yeard .

But now in my late 20s, my beard is really starting to fill in a lot more, especially this past year in the sideburn areas (I only had a couple stray hairs there before). As of now, one month's growth, I have a mustache and goatee that don't connect but will hopefully thicken in a month or two. I now have the outline of sideburns that I didn't have before this year but the hairs are very sparse with some dark and some very light (new hairs coming in I presume).

Well I think that the moustache needs a trim at this stage as it does takes away a person's appearance whereas the beard can be left untouched. Biggest struggle I have is that I want to let my beard grow to fill in the patches, but the hair outside the moustache and chin area grows curly instead of straight. So instead of it falling down and filling in the gaps, it just looks like a patchy rats nest. Even adding balm and trying to train barely keeps it in check. Then I tend to trim the beard down to a length before it starts to curl and tell myself to be content with a thinner beard.

David Manning All beards are curly, the ones you see that look straight are due to the length. I'm in my 11th week beard growth, the first few weeks are not bad, but if you can overcome the "curly, pubic" look beard from week 4 to week 8 then you'll be alright. Just don't touch your beard for at least 8 weeks, no trimming, no products. Then get into light trimming every few weeks, and light use of products. To make it look straight, use the blow dryer and a skinny/narrow brush, and curl your beard inward, towards your neck and jawline.

I've gotten to 90 days once, then shaved it off. When I have the beard, I analyze it and give in to shaving. However, over the last three weeks I have one spot that has slowed down. It's almost like they are breaking off. The hair is there but have stopped growing and now it's kind of like stubble in that area. Even my barber said he never seen anything like it before. He said it's strange because hair is there, so I'm not balding. I asked him if stress would cause it but he said unlikely because when he see hair loss due to stress, usually the hair falls out and nothing grows in that spot. Any ideas of what could be causing it?

I made a mistake shaving the neck beard to close to the chin and not doing the 1-2 finger space from the Adams Apple. I am correcting that. I am over 65, bald and it’s my first attempt but wife is not excited. Have had a goatee for the last 10 years. My goal is to go to the end of April and evaluate.

I havent shaved my beard for one year approx. but did some trimming of course and I noticed that my beard grows faster in some areas. I was perplexed but I took it as it is. The left side of my moustache grows faster than my right side and it was even plain to see, after 7-8 months I would estimate that the difference between both sides were at least 3 cm.

Honestly gives me so much motivation to be patient with my beard. My beard grows in patchy , but never really went past 60 days of actual growth. I mean .. if I can have a beard like the”Greg’s” I surely would take my time this time. That’s what I love about this series in particular , gives me hope that patience is all I really need to go for it. Thanks unc , as always!

Well Im 19 and in my 5th week of no shaving. It was clear that I will grow out a great mustache and will have very good coverage on my chin but it was also clear that I will have big bold spots on my cheeks. Well after 5 weeks I'm very proud of my mouth area. I've noticed that there are some thin hairs on my cheeks which gives me the hope of having a full beard in a few years. Kind regards from Germany :D

So I'm sad to report that I have officially trimmed my beard. I started before November by almost a month. I have even coverage but it's very thin the further it climbs up my cheek. My chin is dense but that's about it. Because I have extremely dark hair and lighter skin it looked very thin almost like somebody loosing hair on their head. Fortunately, I'm 26 and didn't get facial hair till around 21or 22 and each year it seems to be thickening up. I cant be the only one who has this issue and was wondering if their is anybody among you professionals who have pushed through the 60 days with lacking of density. Love your videos and motivation Rich

Cool video, I'm on day 3! Just a weird suggestion/observation, I think if you align the camera frame so that your eyes are not centered like now, but 2/3 of the way up, this should look a lot more natural.

Man, this video was motivating. I am 37 years old and 6 weeks into my first real beard attempt. It's a long way from perfect, but honestly I have been pleasantly surprised. I have no illusions that I am growing anything but the best beard that I can grow. It is so easy to get discouraged and want to shave, but I am firmly committed to 16 weeks. Beyond that is anyone's guess. I very much appreciate your candor. You sir, are an inspiration.

I have awesome beard genetics. From my dad's side, all my uncles, cousins and my brother, have awesome beards. The only problem with me is on my right side of the face, I had really bad acne there when I was a teenager and it left me scars and hair wont grow there. Other than that, my beard and moustache grow amazing.

Thanks for the great video. I'm into week 5, my 1st beard in 25 years. I've noticed or think it's growing in fuller and thicker. I also come to realize I'm my worst critic. I stopped looking in the mirror every hr and just decided let it go. My wife hates it, another reason not to shave. To everyone that might read this, whatever your beard is ROCK IT. It's you go with it and you just might be surprised 4 or 5 months at what an awesome beard you got.

You do have a slight advantage over people who've never grown a beard. You know what it will look like and that it WILL grow in. For your first time trying, it can be a bit daunting to wait a month and still be patchy. But I do agree, let it grow and it will help. My patches are very similar to yours.

Hi there I'm unable to grow a beard in the chin areas they look completely patchy and my beard looks like pubes it's not Silky and soft as yours and if I touch them after 4 weeks it stings like thorns.. Even I have a left huge patch on my cheek now should I still be growing a beard.. I tried it for 1 month and I looked like a terrorist and I'm 38 now...!!! For you I think circle beard will suit you more.. Trim the rest of the hair on your cheeks
