Video on the topic "Making a precisely turned fiddle drill weight of stone on a self-made lathe".
ABOUT (ENGLISH):
The video documents my preliminary experiment to produce a precisely pressed, turned fiddle drill weight from Baumberg sandlimestone on a self-made lathe. In the preliminary experiment, the lathe contains industrially manufactured components (galvanized threaded steel, screw nuts, washers, ball bearings, wood screws) as an intermediate step to approach experimental archaeological questions with regard to ancient Egyptian stone processing using modern methods. In further planned preliminary experiments, precise objects from natural stone are to be produced exclusively with means and methods that were demonstrably actually available to the ancient Egyptians.
