Yossi Sheriff, the Akban Academy founder, documents a devastating shoulder armlock setup for the huge Akban documentation project. www.akban.org/wiki/Portal:_Ni...
When I was in the Bujinkan we did roughly this henka sometimes. I like it a lot, but the one problem I find with it is that the force of the elbow strike easily makes uke loose his grip (or he lets go on purpose to defend or counter), so I found that I need to grab his wrist with my left hand in order to secure control of the arm. Btw, I really appreciate all the material you put online-both on KZitem and on your website. I wish we had an Akban dojo here in Sweden.

I rather explain to an officer or a judge and not to a nurse or paramedic.

Really funny, Black Belt. If a guy grab your shirt its NOT self defense to smash him the ellbow in the face etc...i hope you have a good explain for the judge why you act that way in a NOT dangerous situation...

Ninjutsu is not a sport or something to play with. It's (originally) a very serious art for use in very serious situations. So, don't be confused by being shown one thing out of context. The assumed situation is that you are under attack and they have grabbed you in that manner. Your response then must be decisive.

www.law.cornell.edu/wex/assault 1. The grabbing of ones shirt would be considered assault. If self-defense techniques can't be used in an assault, when can they be used? 2. The legal system can intervene whenever it deems fit. In ANY confrontation, you may have to explain to a judge, or other legal authorities, your actions and/or motives. You are always at the mercy of the legal system, and that mercy waxes and wanes.
