The Vatican Museums just opened a new site: a necropolis on the slopes of Mons Vaticanus, along the Via Triumphalis. A portion of the site was excavated during the creation of the S. Rosa carpark in the 1950s. Excavations continued in the early 2000s, doubling the size of the excavation site. Today, a new entrance has been created in the Vatican Walls for the public to access the unique site. Darius was there at the inauguration. Take a look at an incredibly well-preserved necropolis and on- site museum!
Special thanks to @MuseiVaticaniMv for the special invitation to the site!
