I had the opportunity to interact with some of the skilled workers at the yard, gaining insights into their techniques and dedication to preserving these traditional vessels. One particular highlight was observing the replacement of a plank on one of the ships using Hopea odorata, commonly known as Iron Wood. The meticulous workmanship and attention to detail involved in this process were truly awe-inspiring.
