There are SO many moments (the hay bale for example) where if this were RBR, that would have been the end of the rally. EA WRC is soooo much more forgiving. A fun game, no doubt, but it really does showcase how hardcore RBR is.

15:20 Greece is more forested because the WRC stages are further up north than the ones in Dirt Rally. It's actually even more lush in real life but it's obvious that the game couldn't handle that many trees.

56:30 Absolutely. Just. Add. More. I've never understood spending all that dev money making the engine, cars and stages, only to bin it for the second edition. Although hopefully #2 (or a patch) fixes the insane glare baked into the lighting.

That Asco (Corsica) course is insane. Took me forever to complete it on H3 with the BMW M3, even longer in the M1. Gotta love it though. Those jagged rocks on the inside scare you to the outside, but then you have a direct drop on the other side. No idea how people actually races through these roads in real life

Enjoyed your vids showcasing EA WRC. I have one question though. How is your driving setup in regards of the base, rims and QRs. I was wondering how you changed your wheel so fast while switching the the Lancia to the Porsche.

Hi great old school video as allways. A couple of questions, I bougth the game and my base (DD2) was not calibrating right, after some testing I had to setup the base itself to 540 degrees to get it matching the ingame wheel, did you have to do rhe same?, do you know if that is reallistic?, seems very low rotation. Also even now mach the degrees of rotation there is a big lag, I see clearly the in game wheel rotates slower, do you have the same issue?

In game there is a soft lock setting which makes the wheel locked depending on the car - just set your wheel rotation to the max and calibrate it in game to the max and it will lock your wheel automatically. I dont know if im of any help a month after you asked but still

Always a joy to watch your vids Jake. This new Dirt is not for me for a number of reasons, but it does ask the question. RBR, GP Legends among others passionately conceived on a calculator compared to modern PC's. All the new "sim" releases that I see are focused first on eye candy, physics is an after thought it seems. Stuffing so much GFX into them that leaves no head room for the meat n potatoes, if they even have any physics to discus it is lost in a stuttering 30-60 fps mess on even the most powerful PC's. I hold out hope that there's still a few artists in this world beavering away, using the modern PC to produce a driving sim first, before thinking about placing a tree or stand. The newest sims that cut the mustard in my opinion are AC and Rfactor2, 9 and 10 years old. Sim hardware manufacturing is so huge they now have Exhibitions! The irony of getting the best out of all this fantastic hardware is on software which is 10+ years old.

Seeing your gameplay I was really surprised - a game in the WRC series with sound/handling that doesn't suck? Then I remembered that EA bought Codemasters. RIP EGO engine. Does this mean that they took the stage work by the previous team and implemented a Codies rally game on top of it in Unreal? Pretty cool, if so. Pity the EGO engine went though - the stages look very smoothed out surface-wise, and the graphics are a bit worse than dirt titles of yore.
@t0ninus

They moved to UE4 because it can handle bigger areas and has tools to model them faster. But as the first game with this engine there are some tech issues (on my PC it is quite ok, but it's not the case for everyone). Also some trees away from the road look kinda bad, you can notice that in replays.

Of course you can pull the handbrake on any all wheel drive car without stalling the engine. Just press the clutch. Its the same like on a rear wheel drive car. Only difference comes with front wheel drives, there you dont have to press the clutch and the engine still wont stall.
@GPLaps

But pulling the handbrake on a 4wd group b car locks all 4 tires and not just the rears
@081588101
10 ай бұрын
@@GPLaps Are you sure this is the case for all group B cars, never heard of that at all?! Anyway, that wouldnt make any difference concerning stalling the engine as long as you press the clutch. You can also get the car to move from a stand still, which is basically the same thing as having all 4 wheels locked. When you engage a clutch it seperates the whole drive train from the engine, not just a part of it.
