I do love watching your videos Chris, they are a "wind down" for me - I watch them (some of them more than once or twice) - they get my mind nice and relaxed, and thinking nice thoughts before I try to sleep. 🤗

Hi Chris, After a slog in the garden all day, it really was a superb relax to watch your "stroll" highlighting the sights of the season - esp. those orchids and bedding formations in those Carb. rocks. Fantastic exploration day..😃..must get back down the Dales again soon for another 'memory potter around'..it's been awhile. The S uplands and Scottish Borders always seem first priority..probably because much quieter.😉.. Pennines and Dales got some beautiful flowers and waterfalls....llama_ladee_anny

Excellent video Chris. Always enjoy your commentary and this was no exception. You captured some beautiful scenes around there, may have to visit the area myself at some point. I was up in the Galloway Forest Park a little while ago, camped near Loch Trool. Had intended tackling Merrick but thunderstorms were forecast so decided against it and stayed low instead. have Swarth Fell in my sights for next week, another off the Dales 30 list! Oooh, nice one Lee. A few years back I made the big drive to Glen Trool and wildcamped on The Merrick. I absolutely loved it. I did a vid of it but it might be a bit ropy as it was an early one! 😀

Thanks Dave. Yes, I think you did go through Keld, a few miles after Tan Hill. A few miles after this one I had another barn owl right by the side of the road but it flew off when I screeched to a halt. Cheers, Chris

Awesome video Chris as always…Memories of a week and a half ago when I was around that area with the missus. Did a circular walk from Thwaite. Stayed ovver t’ill on the edge of the Forest of Bowland just outside Austwick. Had a nice couple of days walking.

Right decision was made CJB😊. Your shots of the river took me back to when i was a kid ,camping with mum and Dad,sister and brother... In the dales. Hawes and Sedbergh etc.. Rivers of treacle😊. And watching the trout in the rivers. Great stuff and thank you for the memories 😊😊🫡👍🏼👍🏼

It's great when you finally abandon yourself to what your heart tells you - flowers, memories on bridges and a good mix of avian delights and your in a late may day dream and oh yeah that's not to mention bog standard camp sites inclusive of midges. May-time is such a wonderful month and it's hard for me to think of a better place to spend it. I wish there was some sort of book/website that listed basic campsites, rather than fancy ones. @@ChrisJB not had a good year myself, 👎 tore a ligament at the start of the year and it put me out for some months, Physio did allow me to do half of Southern Uplands Way in June but said no to full crossing as would be too much, so I had 9 days of sheer bliss on the trail, & came back to keyhole surgery. Getting there mate, was out on an overnighter last weekend so getting back into it but its been frustrating for sure, hope all good with you, we need to arrange a night out in the future somewhere.

I love this video Chris....the relative lowlands have attractions too-not least being less bloody windy. All of this video I reckon is within 15 or so miles of my home in Kirkby Stephen. Not a bad place to live!!

Grand job! I camped in Muker last night, short walk to the pub, fell asleep to the river soundtrack. I then went to the eastern lakes, but wish I had stayed in Muker another night and done a local walk, especially after this video.

knew it would be the midges! beautiful becks, pennine barns, and dry stone walls, landscape and beer coloured deep streams with stories of turbulence. I went to Keld YH in 1987 before it shut. Great running amongst bracken and sheep, or cycling bloody steep lanes with views down the valley, and the air couldn't be fresher.

Seemed a nice chilled nostalgic one this Chris. Your dad had a beltin' tash didn't he? Like Tom Selleck. When you entered that church that turned out to be accommodation, you should have gone full Goldilocks and tried all the beds.😂 My kind of campsite that. Running water and a bog. Though i can't use portaloos. Spent enough time on construction sites to put me off 🤢 Thanks again for the floral education. I've already forgotten them, sorry. Ha ha ha!....'beltin' tash'....'Tom Selleck'....that made me laugh out loud Paul, he would've loved that! My pa kept his tash long after they went out of fashion and I'm glad he did. I'd love to see the return of the tash. In fact, I might try and grow one, it should be ready for my Christmas video 😭😉. I got the shock of my life when I went in the church. Always very interesting watching your videos Chris . Plenty of 1st for me in this one👌 I meant to comment on your last video when you mentioned redundancy. Dont be afraid of starting any new venture. People of our era are proving to be increasingly more valued in the work force these days because qualities that came as standard back in the day are proving to be as rare as hens teeth these days. The year i turned 60 i did a level 3 sports massage course and my Class 1 HGV....Old dogs can learn new tricks 😉👍Thanks for another great video. You should do Buy me a coffee .Good luck and ATVB

How do Tito. I do love Upper Swaledale and for me, the month of May is the best time for it. That pull was greater than the one for tops on this day. Yes, the weather seems to be improving and I've got a big pub crawl and walk with my mates tomorrow so am looking forward to that. Best bit is we get the bus over which is only £2 each and a nice ride out then catch 7pm bus back, have a great time round Manchester, have one in the Pev and Nags Head for me if that’s where you land 👍

Get myself into a reet rut sometimes where i just can’t seem to get out camping, find loads of reasons not to go, not many to go😏. Anyway, watch your video and i get the bug again🤣. Few health issues at present stopping me bagging the dales 30 but could easy manage a nice little camp site like that. Cheers Chris, you might just have kicked my arse enough to get me out👍

Aye, know what you mean re the 'rut' thing Phil. Same as you, niggling health issues have been proving a bit of an obstacle lately. I had planned a three day trip earlier in the month but they prevented me from doing that and I'm still feeling grumpy about it!

Honestly, they're the kind of sites I mostly stay on whilst backpacking. I'll go for a posh site if I have to, but I prefer an ultra-basic. So many around there too. Last time I stayed at Keld I too was infested with Midge. Thankfully I had a head-net, long sleeve t-shirt & boney legs.

I notice you've had the gales we've experienced on most of our recent walks. Don't blame you following your hunches on what to do. Sometimes for the best. Nice to see you out though looking summery in shorts and camping cheap too at £7 nightly. Don't think I know much about Westmorland but do know Kirby Stevens. Hope didn't get bitten by those midges.

Always full of crackling information your videos. I used to clean the public toilets in Keld, actually throughout the dales when I worked for the council... As for phone signal, if you head up the Buttertubs road towards Hawes there's a couple areas where you'll get a signal.
