heh, yeah, I'm watching some big youtubers and evidently it's something that they do that viewers like? I think my next video tho, I'm gonna do in 1 take.. see if I can pull THAT off.. I wonder how many people would notice..

@@gamemastersI think it's not just the pretty transitions but a way to organize the info and have chapter ppl can reference later. Also it breaks up the info into digestible pieces. I think I also need to get to using some sort of framework like this. Loved it in the vecna video too!

One thing I have yet to see anyone talk about is the monsters. What are they like? Not looks-wise but mechanics-wise. As a DM this is something I would like to see, though probably after you have gone through how combat works in order for them to make more sense.

Yeah, so far we've not been given a monster to look at. We have a monster creation guide, 7 pages document, but monster yet.

A couple of sample monsters that do NOT use the finalized DC20 monster stat block are available in "The Hunted" one shot starter set. There are also some good resources on the Dungeon Coach discord for building and converting monsters to a DC20 style.

@@gamemasters So this what the new characters sheet looks like now, do like it. But I want to see how it works mechanical later when the book 📖 looks when it comes out in September 17th. 2024 D&D Player's Handbook will be my birthday day 🎁 gift to myself in September 😁. They butcher Alert feat in the book in the new D&D Player's Handbook, not happy about that!! It sucked horribly.

Grapple is linked to might (athletic), but a constested check to escape it can be either athletic or acrobatic by the grappled creature. Jumping and falling is 100% linked to AGI if you are anything but a barbarian who can use there might instead of agility to jump if they want to. There’s modification to be added to the alpha in the attributes description because originally, jumping was linked to might. I like your pace in video. It is easy to watch! Go DC20

Yeah, I was chatting with a couple of folks from the development team and they said the next version fixes some of the confusion.

I saw a livestream comment say they though agility was too powerful. I disagree. Might = health and rest. AGL = defense (PD) and both those as your 3 would imply you have little MD (mental defense) in 5e players choose which skill\stat theu use to escape so I'd assume the same here. There's even the "martial" check which is literally just the highest of athletics\acrobatics. =) love the videos! Love hearing more experienced GMs talk about their thoughts on it =)

well.. and you are combining both int and cha for your MP. I think things will streamline a bit once they get the formatting down, right now it's a mixture of hunting to find all the instances of a specific rule, but it is my understanding that in the next version of the rules there will be a lot that is consolidated.
@tntori5079

@@gamemasters I kind get combination of both mental stats - because your PD also includes armor (equipment) and MD doesn't have such a bonus. Still it will be interesting to see where it goes

The game is available to play in it's current alpha version now for free. The pdf can be accessed from the Kickstarter. Levels 1 and 2 are all you can do at this time and certain "extras" (crafting, bases, hirelings, etc) aren't available at this time but I'm running a couple of campaigns with it now and having a blast.

based on what ive read so far and listened to in vids, DC20 is still as player centric with complicated move options as 5e and PF2.. could be just me but the simpler the better makes for a quicker game and gives the players more room to improvise and create fun and outstanding game play on their own, not relying on the dice as often or what my stats tell me i am allowed to do. ok im rambling ill go away now.

Definitely better than D&D attributes but as always, still just a streamlined version of an already very common TTRPG attributes system. I wonder if anyone has a created a system that finally breaks away from the basic Attributes with minimal skills?… 🤔 Hint - hint! x)

What would be an example?

@@gamemasters A proficiency system from ‘Novice’ through ‘Expert’ with 5 stages. Novice being a D4, with each dice increasing until expert using a D12. While I have to be vague, don’t have a list of skills within the attributes mechanics & instead, duel-link them to profession’s. Ex. Lockpicking, pickpocketing, heist & forgery would all be sub-variants of the ‘Thievery’ profession instead of being linked to Dex/Agil, requiring you to connect your own logic to make since as to why things belong to a specific attribute instead of skills in alignment to the attributes (which are not the basic 4-6 attributes that most TTRPG’s recycle every time for the last 5 decades), not that this is bad, but they’re all in the same limited box of thinking. Instead of having to be vague, I’d much rather show you as these are 6 years in the making concepts of grueling trial & error to finally break the mold while still making since to veterans of the current systems but for now, I digress back into the shadow’s! 🥷

Jumping, falling under might, makes no sense. I have a pb dead lift of 540 and squat about the same. I can't jump very far at all. Neither could Arnold Schwarzenegger. Jackie Chan, on the other hand...

DC20 has some interesting aspects but I really dislike the whole concept of the Prime attribute. It just means everyone is just as good as anyone else in "core adventurer" aspects. RAW, I could be deaf and born without hands, and trained as an expert singer, but I can shoot the bow and can hear as well as anyone else. I don't like it. I like making characters that are substandard in some respects. Someone who is as good as everyone else is just boring. I want the choice. Still might get the kickstarter just to support the industry and see what they change over time, but I can't imagine wanting to run this game with this prime attribute crutch.

It’s still possible to build a mechanically substandard character, it’s just that DC20 flips the script. In most games you have to know the system well to avoid building a mechanically substandard character, but in DC20 you have to know the system well to build a mechanically substandard character. This helps protect casual & new players.

question, So what differences would An agility wizard from a might wizard ? Is it major or just small ? Can agility cast spells/more spells & might has more damage or area of affect damage ?
@gamemasters

perfectly legit question, from what I can tell.. Might would add your might to your max health points, whereas agility would add to your physical defense. In the rules set that I have access to currently, I cannot find anything that states your attributes directly impact your spells. This might be a quested best asked of DC20's Alan.
