I recently watched the episode of Buck Rogers in which Dorothy appeared; this was probably the first time I'd seen the episode since first viewing it in 1980. I was genuinely amazed at her screen presence; leaving aside how utterly stunning she was, it was as if she knew exactly how to stand and move to make the camera love her. If she'd had the chance, I suspect she could have become a great actress.

Critics panned it as being "High Noon in space". Well, if that's the case, then IMHO the writers gave a better reasoning for the hero getting zero help from the citizens. In High Noon they just played the townsfolk as a load of cowards. In Outland there is a whole dynamic over miners wanting more money, a corporation wanting more money, and an amphetamine that makes people work like plowhorses until they go psychotic, and everyone greedily wanting to protect their interests. Works better than the dismissive "They's all cowards.

Once again, Cecil comes through in a pinch. I've seen this movie a million times back in the 80s as a kid. As an adult I forget the name. All I remembered was "The Blue Star...Oooh Oooh!!!". Now I can try to see if it's streaming anywhere. If you can explore The Ice Pirates, that would be great.

Popeye's muttering and ad libs were awesome. No other character was doing this, and it made the cartoons so great.

I'm sad that I knew of what happened to her before learning of any of her work thanks to seeing Star 80 one odd day. Somewhat happy that she had fun doing things away from him.

The clip at the end made me jolt my head to look at the screen because the guy in the mask sounds just like Worf, and I thought you were playing a TNG clip for some reason lol.

I had never heard of this before but when you said her husband was creepy and made her uncomfortable I knew what the tragedy would be.

I remember watching late one Saturday night on Cinemax and loving it. Never knew the title or saw it again until mid 2010’s. I learned about the backstory and was shocked. Thanks for digging deeper into everything! This is why you are my Number favorite YT page of all time!

That infrared film is fascinating. You can tell it's more than just a coloured filter over the lens. Sounds like it was a pain in the arse to work with, but the result is such a unique look that I think the effort was worth it.

When a thumbnail wakes up old brain cells, it's pretty amazing how they can recall information not explored in 40 years. First thing I thought was 'Dorothy Stratton'? Yes, I remember the drama but didn't realize the history and timing of both events - movie/death.

I like the part where he suddenly pulls back and begins looking around worried. He is an "omnipotent" being and aware of things happening all over the place at the exact same time and it gave a real sense that something was going on that even made him worried. With the mystery they are setting up I just hope they're able to pull it off when it's all said and done.

The story of Dorothy Stratten is something that personally I feel overshadows both movies, something I’d never be able to look at without thinking about the murder

The best thing about this movie are the posters. It also illustrates the really seedy side of Hollywood that people like to forget but never lets them.

The Aeorchrome! So cool ... wish they still made it, because it's incredible stuff. So horrible what happened to Dorothy Stratten, though. Thank you for the great video!
