you should visit Fort Tilden in rockway. kind of good and there are a lot of civil era period abondend army installations... also FT beach which is kind of quite and away from crazy NYC a nice place for adventure and a nice view of Atlantic ocean.

$2.00 is pretty cheap for the ferry. Last time I was on it though it was free. Of course you needed military I.D. I lived there from 1965-1974 when it was a Coast Guard base. Interesting fact the coast guard cutter that did the rescue in the movie perfect storm was out of governors island.

Lmao my mom doesn't want me going to governors island anymore. I've gotten hurt 3 times there and she thinks that govener's island isn't safe 1st time. Couple years ago I was running on one of the sidewalks. I tripped and scraped my knee completely. Stopped hurting after a while but the trouble continued. It was painful putting on a bandage, walking. A couple days later, pus came out and the scrape turned yellow. (There's a little Mark still on my knee) 2nd time. In 2014 summer, me and my friends were at the park, playing cops and criminals. My friend was the first (we were the criminals and my two other friends were the cops) went down the slide first. So as I went down the slide after him, one of my friends grabbed me by my shoulders. I didn't wanna lose so I grabbed the slide edge (I was on the top of the slide) and fell off the slide and ended up breaking my arm. 3rd. Back in the summer of 2015 me, my family were walking from the ferry to the island. I passed out from lack of water and how hot it was at the time. I was sent to the hospital. That's the last time we ever went So that's my story folks. To this day they still don't want me going.

Just found your channel cuz we were looking for vlogs about Governor's Island and NYC in general. We were at Gov's a few years ago for an art event and loved it. Planning another trip out this year. Great video and love your channel. New Sub. We can't wait to see the rest of your vids. I foresee a weekend of binging. :D

Hey Jacob. Thanks for the video, it was nice, and you walk everywhere, which is practical for people to know before visiting. I actually posted a video in my channel about Governors Island, but in includes info about how to get there (trains, ferry), prices, schedules, how to avoid scams, activities that you can do there, and general info. Anyway, it's nice to see videos like this, from real people, jeje.

Is there a cost to explore the island? Are maps provided?
@JacobCarlson
7 жыл бұрын
+Kimberly Cochran The only cost is getting there. I believe it is $2 for a roundtrip ferry ticket. Not sure about the maps. You could always use Google maps on your phone
@RosanasChannel

Yes, the ferry costs 2 dollars for a roundtrip. And the island itself is free to visit. You can download the map on their webpage. It's a nice place to visit in summer.
