Hi. I'm from the UK. I don't think it's always because we shown images of war - but what I'm surprised about is how modern and Westernised so far [Kabul and Herat] it looks with the choice of goods in the shops. I thought all this was against the Taliban's ethos? Or is Carrie only going to places that the Taliban want the West to see? What about all the stories we hear about the abuse of women - not allowed education or going to work?

Absolutely beautiful place. Just proves that the people of Afghanistan aspire for the same dreams and aspirations as people the world over. They have made a lot of progress in a short space of time. Incredibly clean streets, friendly people. Never ever thought I would consider visiting Afghanistan. This has completely changed my mind. I wonder if there are separate places for women only that are run by women and it’s mainly women who know where they are. After all women like their pampering and will find a way😊

Honestly I think it could be an exciting place soon.. it’s changing.. I saw seeds of change that were lovely .. they need to shift on hardline ideas like girls education and women’s rights (plus odd things like banning music 😅) they are the big giveaways that things are regressive rather than progressive .. but if they sort this quick which I think they could.. they will gain international respect.. more tourism.. a stronger economy. Do I think they can do it? Yes I do.

@@carriepatsalis 100%. The IEA do say they will eventually allow education for women however they are working to change the curriculum which was set previously by Americans, to something that is correct according to the Islamic laws and values - shariah. Can I ask what you mean by women's rights? Some opinion and views differ within Islam but majority say that music is haram (prohibited) so thats why it's banned as according to the shariah. Hope you can understand the reason for these and hope you had a great time in Afghanistan!
@carriepatsalis
3 ай бұрын
Well education to a high level is a human right.. it’s also in the Quran, so Islam promotes education. My understanding of Islam is that it doesn’t force people to do things, it’s a kind and understanding religion. So the idea of forcing a music ban doesn’t seem Islamic to me, it seems a human interpretation. Music is an integral parting any culture.. Afghan music is wonderful and it was sad that culturally things are being changed by humans for what I see as the wrong reasons. As a planet we should let people practise their faith without force.. I believe that’s a guiding principle of Islam too.
@pashtunafghan1047

who defines human rights? White man in the west? who gave the white man the right determines human rights? we muslims do not accept the concept of human rights defined in the west, we have the islamic system of human rights which states the rights of women and men and their responsibilities, we do not need the white man's definition. the Koran does not talk about secular education, the Koran talks about religious education, not about secular ones, Muslims in the West have instilled in you false ideas about Islam, Islam is not a religion of peace and goodness, Islam is a religion of justice. who told you that the Koran does not force Muslims to comply with their obligations? Islam is a religion that has its own system of laws that a person must obey, the Koran says that non-Muslims cannot be forced to accept Islam, and about Muslims the Koran says that a believer has no other choice when making decisions if Allah and his messenger have made a decision. the laws and rules of Islam are not determined by what seems to you or me, the rules in Islam are determined by the Almighty, Islam is a political religion, music is prohibited in Islam, there are reliable hadiths about this, hadiths are the second source of Islam. if a culture is contrary to Sharia law, then such culture should be thrown out, and where did you get the idea that music is prohibited in Afghanistan? Yes, music is prohibited, but where? in public places, but no one forbade you to listen to music at home, in the car or even at a wedding, besides, Western music corrupts Muslims. who told you that you can’t force people to observe religion? where did you get this from and on what basis, that’s why we Afghans don’t like Europeans when they impose their ideologies on us, it’s like the relationship between a slave and a master, the master is the White man in the west, and the slaves are the rest of the world, if the white man said that this is not acceptable, it means it is unacceptable, we are Muslims and we do not have to live according to the rules of the white man in the West

Thank you, Carrie! it is so lovely to see how a country full of war lords, day light kidnapers and corruption is changed to a prosperous safe nation. Talib must have one of the best cultural advisors and Afghan managers :) I hope that Afghan women get the freedom with dignity they deserve.

I doubt it, they don’t even want girls to be educated beyond primary school
I urge all Afghanis to come out and support this channel. I've watched a couple of her videos of Afghanistan n I must say that she singlehandedly changed many misconceptions fed to us by the western media

I still have the conception that Afghanistan is a horrible place for women and girls. How many did you see in this episode? New laws say that women cannot laugh, cannot sing. They are trying to wipe out everything female. I think it is a horrid place. They can be as friendly as they want, I will NOT go there as a woman. NEVER.

Absolutely beautiful hotel btw! As far as the women of our beloved nation, we are working diligently to allow them to attend spas, gyms and overall to be in integral part of society.

I loved that hotel so so much! And yes you know I can say too that I had a sense, a small sense things could change.. if they do, honestly I will be so happy to celebrate this country more because it will be really really impressive.. and also, for the Taliban to do it would really show the international community that they are in fact a serious governing force.. it would be the biggest win they could achieve.. let’s see 😍

@@carriepatsalis carrie, women are allowed to do whatever within the bounds of islamic ruling. as far as spa and all that stuff, it is not within islamic culture to attend that. we have our own laws dealing with modesty, dont view it with same lens of western culture. just because women are not allowed to do certain things does not mean they are being oppressed. this is our culture, people need to respect that. dont apply your western culture to our societies. we are not the same.

@@atifjavaid7941you shouldn’t get so offended. This amazing woman is showing such a positive view of your country which is very rare. You should be grateful. Many, myself included have had their eyes opened due to this woman’s efforts. She is entitled to share her opinion which many agree with. Don’t be so single minded, accept that not everyone will think the way you do.
