Exploring Light and Tradition: Interview with Thomas Codol at The King's Foundation Degree Show
ABOUT THE DEGREE SHOW
WE ARE DELIGHTED TO PRESENT THE SCHOOL’S ANNUAL DEGREE SHOW CELEBRATING OUR GRADUATE STUDENTS’ SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE TWO-YEAR MA PROGRAMME.
Inspired by the great art traditions of the world, our 10 graduating students from Europe, India, Iran, Canada and the United States, will exhibit an ambitious range of work including: Etruscan Bucchero tiles, Ukrainian folk painting, Orthodox iconography, intricate wood inlay, Western illumination and calligraphy, Persian and Indian miniatures, exploratory polyhedral structures of varying scales and Islamic geometry.
Join us for an exclusive interview with Thomas Alexis Codol, a self-taught artist specializing in intuitive geometry, as he showcases his latest works at The King's Foundation Degree Show. In this video, Thomas discusses his unique approach to art, blending traditional techniques with modern sensibilities to create captivating pieces like the "Great Rhombicosidodecahedron in Cursive Dark" and "Hexagonal Circle in Cursive Light.

*Artist Statement:*
"My work is about Light. It’s a journey through patterns and spaces, inspired by my travels and the traditions of various cultures. I aim to make room for the hidden elements within the spaces I create, influenced by my lifelong study of traditional cultures and languages."
*Biography:*
Thomas Codol, from the California Bay Area, has a background in Japanese Studies and Architecture. He has studied Islamic Art extensively and traveled to historic sites worldwide. His work is rooted in traditional geometry and is expressed through paper mediums.
