Delays, and other effect modules, are so expensive so I keep those in-the-box for now but nothing beats CV controlled effects in the rack. Beautiful sounds, and your vocals are always a boonus on top.

Mad keen to see what you can do with an Afterneath. Sounds 'not of this dimension' with a Peaks pinged rez'd up 2600 filter in it's send/return path... From gritty to glassy to glottal, then it's a playable bass sound out of nowhere? Difficult to explain, easy to get amazing results from. Top quality vid - again!!

@@TheUnperson I could resist that one 🤣 Something you might like to try is putting the data bender in the send & return loop as well as the filter. And of course you can make similar feedback loops with any of them by splitting the output, running through whatever, and mixing back into the input.
@hrrld

@@boydw1 This (!) - you don't need that special module with the send/return at all; if the delay goes 100% wet, and you have a mixer, then you can wire up the feedback path manually, and put any modules you like in the feedback path that way, I do this with my pico dsp all the time. I'm quite sure @TheUnperson is aware of this. I do understand that this is a bit convoluted to try and document in this format. It's quite a few cables, and different from anything else I've seen on this channel, but it might be interesting to try (I'd certainly watch such a video). Stay rad, this channel is good and I hope it continues to grow.

Hi Ally, Is it OK to use your setup layout as one of my 'starterkit' videos? I love the fact that your layout only goes through minor changes and always works/delivers. I am not sure if you ever covered why that is. I think it's a winning combo of the 'right' modules, a midi/cv controller and something external (teenage engineering) that compensates for the all limitations that remain. I guess a lot of people just love your work without knowing why it works so well. If you'd like to do something like this one day, I'll keep off, otherwise I'd love to share my views on it.
@TheUnperson

Hey there - absolutely that's okay! Personally I seem to work better with limitations and I get a bit overwhelmed with bigger systems and too many options. I prefer to learn a small batch of modules really well and get every last drop out of them lol. Having the external gear definitely helps to very easily put down drums and accompaniment, etc. I look forward to seeing your perspective on the subject! Cheers!

I see you've surprisingly stuck with that modest Z5000 along with all that endgame stuff you cycle through, it must be pretty damn solid for bread & butter FX (and more?) - but I was wondering if you had to pick Z5K or ModFX or Echoez, which would you choose for lofi atmospheric beats, sample processing & ambient chordy stuff? I do already have an FX Aid (love it), Monsoon (underutilized) & a Crush Delay (probably selling for an AFA Coma Reactor 1 or 2), and a couple euro→line FX loop units for external FX/processing. BUT, fiending for more stereo "warming" FX like Phasers & Chorus, saturated modulation. Thanks as always, A! 🪢
