The basic assumption of spirituality and meditation is that the universal consciousness was present before any matter was manifested. The matter came into existence by the mere act of observation by that universal consciousness. Humans can be explained as universal consciousness trapped in the near field or localised collapsing of waves which is our body. The body appears to be different from others as the arrangement of matter and experiences are unique to each human. This can be termed as Ego. The moment, we transcend this Ego through meditation or any other practice, we are one with the universal consciousness, the one which has been present all along, the creator. This is Nirvana, the ultimate truth. The physicists are trying to prove this as an objective reality which is perhaps a loosing battle as the truth remains subjective and purely experiential in nature. Having said that what the physicist have unraveled so far is of enormous value to a seeker of truth. Imagine that every time you open your eyes, you see the entire universe as one entity and not as disparate, local Newtonian phenomenon. You can actually believe and experience that we are not in the universe but we are the universe.

Rakesh Sood "The physicists are trying to prove this as an objective reality which is perhaps a loosing battle as the truth remains subjective and purely experiential in nature." I think the point is that there is no objective reality because our perception of reality can only be subjective, a personal experience for each one of us. It's the commonality of our subjective experiences that, put together, give us (perhaps an illusion of) an objective physical reality. That's basically how we agree on what physical reality is. We all see the sun come up in the morning, so we all agree that the sun is real, etc. If the current interest in meditation and spirituality continues, and more people are having similar "extra-normal"subjective experiences and comparing notes, perhaps that's when we begin to get closer to understanding the true nature of reality. I haven't had an NDE myself, for example, but if most everyone in the world had had one, then most of us would likely agree the after you die you are going to experience a life review, an overwhelmingly loving white light, etc. etc. etc. Too bad it's so hard to access these other non-material "reality-frames" through meditation alone. I've only been at it for a few years now, and I have had some pretty interesting experiences - but nothing compared to some people who claim to be able to access these other "realms" at will, like Tom Campbell or William Buhlman, for instance. And many of the NDEers, like Natalie Sudman, say that after their NDE they also have the ability to shift focus, at will, to access these other dimensions of a more expansive reality - which would make our local physical reality a subset of this larger (non-physical?) reality. Cool stuff to think about, anyway, and hopefully to experience more fully at some point in time! All the best.

agree! it's becoming apparent when you start the idea that the universal consciousness is that what is left, when you eliminate all that is perceivable. When you ask yourself: The thoughts, ideas, perceptions in my head... who is the observor that is aware of them? You can't be your thoughts, because you observe them.
@MrShahid0072

That was certainly well put . Exactly how I feel about the whole thing. Many people like Terrence McKenna and Aldous huxley have claimed the brain to be a receiver of consciousness rather than consciousness to be an emergent phenomena from the activity of neurons firing. People who have had full blown DMT trips claim similar stuff too. I wonder if it's possible through meditation alone and if so .. how?

There's no outside world outside of experience. Therefore, you are non-local. When there's no more time nor an aparent division, the observer is known as the observed. The mind that is honest enough with itself to enter in this pure dimension knows the true structure of the universe. There's a limit to outside knowledge and this limit is the actual state of mind of oneself.

+hermenutic My experience is that the awareness isn't in the mind or body, but the mind and body arise within awareness, just as everything else does. It is memory that gives us the notion of being a separate self, and the interpretation of our senses (especially visual) that compel us to believe we are a body. If you consider the subjective nature of our experience it's fundamentally no different from the nature of dream. This is what allows eternity and infinity. If there was an actual space or time they would have to begin and end somewhere by definition. Mind cannot comprehend Consciousness because Mind is secondary. It is the effect, not the cause.

well said. everything starts with a thought. Look at a car, or a chair. Every creation ever made by man first started as a thought. The intention gave rise to the manifestation of that thought. With that in mind, look at the beauty and structure of an orchid or a dahlia, whose idea was that?

It's interesting how so many physicists will eagerly discuss the most bizarre phenomena in quantum mechanics or relativity, like black holes, time dilation, wave/particle duality, entanglement, multiple universes, time and space "bubbling" at the quantum level etc. as long as it stays comfortably out of the realm of implications for consciousness. I think this is because once consciousness gets pulled into the conversation, their sense of personal identity gets threatened and that can induce fear and uncertainty.
@MrFungus420

+valinor100 No. It's because every, single piece of evidence that we have regarding consciousness indicates that it is a biological phenomenon, thus placing it outside of the bailiwick of physicists. It's the same reason that you don't hear physicists trying to explain cellular biology.

MrFungus420 Is anything outside of the bailiwick of physicists? There is a major philosophical debate in science about which of the sciences has the 'final say' in anything. ~ One thing I would like to point out is to a wave space and time are irrelevant because the wave has infinite room to expand and everything happens instantaneously ~ A particle on the other hand is a wave that has collapsed in on itself it has mass ( Takes up space ) and is slowed down ( Takes time to move ) ~ Another thing i would like to point out is ~ The universe may appear to be still but it is not ~ It is constantly expanding and periodically contracting so you see we live in a dynamic universe ~ What people often refer to as stillness is actually the tranquil flow of consciousness ~

quantum consciousness is legit. the "orch or" theory is pretty cool. when i first heard of the observer effect i thought their had to be some sort of quantum aspect of consciousness. the copenhagen interpretation is accurate too. we cant look at a quantum system without effecting it in some way, we automatically collapse the wave function bringing to concrete reality all the superpositioned mathematical possibilities. time, matter, and space are illusions created by information at the foundation of reality. as you may know quantum computations are taking place in the microtubials in neurons, this is the heart of consciousness. all of reality is consciousness being created in the micro, but manifesting in the macro world. john weeler created, "it from bit". he created the delayed choice quantum experiment and correctly predicted the results from this experiment. he said we live in a virtual reality or simulation. and his experiment proves this.

Clark Magnuson I also This is a paste of my post above Am I the only person who noticed that a person who asked the panel a question about their perspective on understanding the Universe as an organism .... was completely ignored. He was ignored a second time when the panel had finished talking and he once again said .... “ I asked about your views on the Universe as an organism” or words to that effect. Ignored! Speaks volumes. Obviously having a view that the Universe can be viewed as an organism is .... crazy? Really? My view is that that is exactly what the Universe is. How could plasma left to its own devices (nothing more than going through cooling/phase transition) for 14 Billion years, produce the first living cell, if the first cell was not inherent in the ordered energy which expanded so fiercely all those years before? That plasma had inherent order. forces/fields (Strong nuclear/ electromagnetic etc) geometric structure, mathematical relationships)That is surely undeniable. It’s pure systems theory. That pure energy could not evolve into planets seas and ME’s if that unfoldment wasn’t what happens when plasma cools ( grows/evolves) for 14 billion years. Professor Roger Penrose believes that the Universe has bounced through this cycle eternally (out of time) or infinitely. Plasma to, the Universe we see to eventual heat death ...to quantum fluctuation to plasma ..... in an endless cycle, with NO beginning. Science generally cannot deal with infinities however. How can an entity produce an organism (cells/ you and I) if it itself as a whole (a UNI-verse) is not an organism from top to bottom. A bridge too far for scIentific materialism would be that consciousness is inherent in the above process at all levels top to bottom. The plasma ball was both the chicken and the egg. The womb and the foetus. The Wombiverse. As above so below. Please respond if you disagree because I can’t see it any other way. Stating the obvious - The Universe predated science. The Universe produced scientists 🥼 ( their bodies) without a single human thought involved. Scientists/ materialists then assume that the universe which predates them cannot be viewed as a systems ordered conscious living growing ( call it evolving if you like ) entity from top to bottom. There is no such thing as dead energy. Where is that stuff .... if there is any. Science has no agreed notion of what life actually is let alone energy. Energy ( = mass = information) Information as conceptualised in the physics of black holes. Information is meaningless without consciousness. As for consciousness and the hard problem there of ...... NO ONE has even begun to frame that conundrum within scientific materialism or to acknowledge that it’s obviously an inherent property of energy ..... energy (whatever that IS) Consciousness appears to be primary not matter. Surely that’s the coming new paradigm .... which currently sounds absurd to materialists. How could it not? They think consciousness is excreted/produced by the brain AND is an illusion at the same time. Small problem .... Illusions only exist in consciousness. I recommend the book ... Why materialism is baloney , by Dr Bernardo Kastrup and/ or anything by plant biologist Rupert Sheldrake. This is what science free of denial looks like. Free of the belief that materialism actually has a clue what energy ( = mass = information) actually IS.

CONSCIOUSNESS AND ENERGY: 1) Consciousness is more fundamental than energy but it manifests through concentrates of energy called matter. No one knows what energy is; all we know is what energy does. Given the fine tuning of the universe and the existence of sentient forms, it is reasonable to suppose that energy at its root is intelligent. In 1900, Dr J C Bose demonstrated that sentience inheres in varying degrees in forms of matter - metal, plant, animal and human - using the crescograph. 2) Energy/matter, split into a scale of frequencies and of varying degrees of organization, pervades the cosmos. 3) Lines of force of the energy field are spread out everywhere and form a web. 4) Consciousness emerges in varying degrees in concentrates of energy depending on the complexity of organization. 5) When a remote viewer or when a mystic perceive a long range event in spacetime the moot question is whether his consciousness (from his brain) reaches out to the object under surveillance to get a closeup of it, or is it the EM waves associated with brain activity, travelling at c, that are directed towards the object. 6) The object in turn is a radiator of energy waves. 7) Entanglement between the two fields of EM waves leads to transmission of information that is brought back to the cognitive centers in the brain through feedback loops. 8) Once the incoming information signals are processed by the consciousness in the brain the image of the object is perceived much like in the case of ordinary viewing. 9) The difference between the brain activity of an ordinary person and that of a remote viewer or mystic lies in the frequency of brain waves generated - the consciousness manifested in the brain of say a mystic is sufficiently intense for it to it see long range objects while being stationed in the brain when the brain's EM waves that reach out to the object under investigation bring back information about the said object and at the same time by getting to the core of the information it can peer deep into the heart of an object (stationed elsewhere) to perceive its inner structure, its causal relationships and to understand how the object is factored into the universal energy web. 10) No one says when viewing an object at short range or when placed a long distance away that his brain's consciousness left the brain and traveled to the object to perceive it. 11) It is more likely that the brain's EM waves targeted the object wherever it was situated and on entanglement with the energy waves emanating from the object brought back the information to the consciousness localized in the brain which operates in case of remote viewers and mystics at higher frequencies. 12) 'There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.'

This is while considering violent human (groups) behavior around the world. I believe and agree in the opinion of dark matters. Hidden charged field that we do not see may have impact on each individual and extremists behaviors and actions. The idea of not only focusing on cell biology or multitude of sciences and considering mathematics and collaborate with understanding that each individual with boundary is complex matrix of earth. I personally believe it's not about the awareness of "how it works" (like a mathematical or physical explanation), but more about a "natural" and unforced awareness of a complex sort of existence in a universal scale. One example can be the art of meditation: When you meditate you are not trying to figure out something or to solve problems with your "local" awareness or consciousness..you are just trying to explore new, purposeless and timeless paths of universal existence..which could be the key to "understanding" (or better) accepting our "higher self" or higher existence in a holistic sense..

I think in the introductory explanation of the slide the ideas of motion and stillness are a bit simplistic. I think I would describe the grand nonlocal consciousness as "whole" rather than still. Instead of S and s for nonlocal vs. local I might use small p for local perspective and capital P for total or nonlocal perspective. I think the P would be better described as dynamically whole, rather than "still." Theories still tend to separate time and space etc even as they explain they are not separate. the idea of one thing being "fundamental" while another isn't is a symptom of this tendency. As Bohm said, theories are more like different perspectives that put together give you a better picture of the whole but no theory is the whole. Dynamic wholeness is the best expression semantically that I can think of to describe the infinite "territory" these finite theories all attempt to map.

To Rudolph Tanzi, apparently short term memory loss does not interrupt consciousness itself. Who is the kook talking about "rays"?;) If you want to stand a chance of making sense of EVERYTHING, then you truly need to try to see the whole. One of the things that hold us back in this regard is the religion of big bang. There is another theory or view, if the term "theory" offends you, that the universe is infinite and had no beginning. That the expansion is actually the action of a wave, sine wave if you will, with a wavelength that, only one that I know of, has considered, in the range of 50 trillion light years or more, which excludes big bang as the source. Infinite Wave Theory is the theory that deals with this. It suggests that, just as light has properties of wave and particle, so does this "force", possibly gravity, with this huge wave length that is affecting the whole universe. The wave action accounts for the dark energy and the particle property accounts for the dark matter. It suggests that it is a wave on this unified field and that black holes are recycling engines that return everything to the wave or field eventually, and that CBR, and possibly these other dimensional wave forms, including consciousness, are energy returned universally, but on a more local scale. That would explain why galaxies with feeding black holes are brighter. It would suggest that "Time" is an energy, possibly the energy of consciousness, flowing into us, through us, and that flow is what we perceive as the passing of time. It would explain how time slows down when we get excited. It would give a very simple explanation and purpose for black holes and where that energy goes and returns from, making the infinite universe a closed system in regards to conservation of energy. It suggest that the universe is a living breathing being, with an awareness of it's on. Anyway, check it out. Infinite Wave Theory, makes a hell of a lot more sense than big bang. Live long and prosper:) ...oh and I am Wayne McMichael (comments and critiques are welcome:)

I would ask each of these people, "Have you experienced Non-Local Consciousness?" If they have not they don't know. .. Indigenous peoples learned to use their abilities in Non-Local Consciousness to live rather than die. In other words their abilities have been selected for. I have experienced NLC. I am also an engineer so my approach is most empirical. .. I am applying the scientific method properly, for better or worse. .. I see the quantum physicists as being most unscientific because they are applying 'top down logic'. .. IMO, The quantum physicist is only trying to establish dominance on this panel. This is driven by his instinct and therefore useless. .. Also, I would delete those who are motivated by the fear of death. (Religious people) .. Start with the empirical. .. A panel of experiencers is necessary. [IMO] .. Search "Remote Viewing" to learn more.

This is woo woo. Consciousness is an awareness experience phenomena that occur in brains. There is no evidence that conscious awareness occurs independent of brains. The duality of matter at quantum levels is a separate phenomena. Combining the two is Deepak Chopra territory and despite the panels' credentials, they are all discussing pseudoscientific ponderings.

Good point. I feel like the only real core reason for a lot of the endless research and practice, in the end was all just to simply better understand what we are experiencing. There is no culture on earth that yet embodies the way things are experienced.

Mackenzie Scott "Each of you on stage have been helping me for many many years to feel not so alone." What makes you to feel so alone, Mackenzie? Do you have any special questions concerning consciousness problematic that you still have no answers to? Once upon a time, Dean Radin and John Hagelin sent me their books which both were valuable source of information. However by that time I have already developed my version of the theory of consciousness, and I had something of my own to compare their ideas with.

@@sergepatlavskiy1530 I can't speak for Mackenzie but I feel like I can relate to her statement. Feeling alone on this for me stems from having a similar understanding of consciousness as those discussed here but most people can't relate to it, yet. The ideas here validate my own theories. It is very reassuring when you reach a certain conclusion for yourself and then others express that they have reached similar conclusions. I would guess that Mackenzie doesn't have people in her life that also understand consciousness in this way.

Its seems a curious thing that humans achieved all the sophistications of cultivation and farming through to the industrial revolution and ultimately space age technology in just the last ten thousand years; yet our brains had expanded exponentially from those of our ape ancestors some millions of years ago and have expanded not barely an iota since.

not to belittle those living with such a difficult neurological anomaly as Alzheimer's. this mirroring of medically defined symptoms associated with this disease and the spiritual presumption of enlightened state keys , may well be more then coincidental. the criteria that was quoted here of needing the self awareness our humanness has for so long lent on as affirming presence within our worlds . the "tragedy" those connected to anyone affected by this diagnosis is undoubtedly a egoic response to the assumption that great losses are happening concurrently from all that was once whole , the way we want whole to seem. Could our humanness as we scientifically affirm it to be, by definition , disallows the concept of "the great" in the unknown not be an adjective reference to size or scale , but a simple readable subtlety that when accepted then can we conceive that there may be an un greatness to the known we have missed. consciousness turning of or winning the battle to take control of the its transcendence . or is it a traumatic gift bestowed upon the chosen for some reason or another, similar to blindness heightening other senses etc. and are we meant to know these things at all.

Even if physicists map all the particles and forces and succeed in unifying the standard model with general relativity and detect the elusive dark energy/dark matter which is supposed to underlie the mechanism of the expansion of the universe and at the same time even though life scientists discover all the genes in the human genome yet they will still remain clueless about the origin and nature of the universe and of consciousness.
