Great information, I’ve just discovered your threads via House of Jackson sewing tutorials from our craft fair here in Australia 🇦🇺 thank you very much for helping me understand the different thread uses 😀💥👌

I was given a load of spools of spun polyester thread somebody threw out. It is so strong I can’t break it with my hands yet it is quit fine. I have looked up the label and found this thread is used for upholstery, bag making etc. My question is, could I use it for free motion quilting?

We have a thread called HomDec which is a multi-filament extra strength polyester that we recommend for sewing on heavier materials like leather and nylon. It comes in 60wt, 40wt, and 30wt sizes.

Can you use cotton covered polyester thread to sew knit or stretch fabrics? Thank you.

Usually the polyester core in a cotton covered polyester is not as stretchy. We can't comment on other brands as some manufacturers will make their threads differently, but it is best to look for a thread specifically designed for knits and stretch fabrics, as it's not worth the headache of something going wrong with the thread.
