Awesome video! Don't be afraid to talk up your skates, I wanna hear about how they feel and how they handle. I already preordered a shell and I'm excited to skate the city in them. :)

Have you considered doing a big wheel core system? It should provide a good bit of the aluminum response that's good in big wheel skating with options for customizability through swapping walls (rockering, tri-skates, aggressive, etc). And since the cores are extruded I would assume there's no huge startup cost associated with molds. You could basically take your current core design and essentially elongate it. And then, of course, provide the wall files for folks to design their hearts out 😁

I have mentioned this in some of the Gear Talk chats. I think it would be really cool, both as a flat 4x setup and then to see what people designed. 80/72 with an H-block and a slight rocker would be so fun.

@@Rollerbalder Yeah lots of possibilities. You could go the Oysi route with 72 or 80 outer & 60 inner. Lot so options for urban. Just so many things

Despite how crusty your opening cam/mic were, your overall production quality keeps it standing tall. Those pink wheels look faaaantastic worn in!! As for heel and toe rolls, i'd say practice somewhere very smooth and try stationary and low-speed drills to really work that balance response. You'll be less susceptible to 'looping out' like wheelieing a bike cause you'll know how to move the rest of your body to catch yourself when you lose balance.

Thanks, good tips. I’ll work on that this week. That first shot is embarrassing. Using the new camera and it was way too far away so I had to zoom in a lot. Hope to nail that next time

The toeroll secret, as taught to me by the late great James Short, master of all things toeroll: you DON'T push down on your toes. You put your weight on the ball of the foot, and actually pull up with your heel and your toes, so the ball is your fulcrum. Imagine a teeter totter, your heel is on one side, your toes are on the other. Sounds weird but it worked, I went from not being able to toeroll more than a couple feet, to being able to do it for maybe 20 feet 😅 Then I broke my ankle (not toe-rolling) and never really re-learned them afterwards. But it works! Or maybe it was a placebo effect; James was known to tell a tall tale or two, and it's not like you could see what his foot's during a toeroll. But he could spin into them, jump off of them, swizzle to gain speed while toerolling, and do them to a stop and just hold them in place. So I like to think he knew what he was talking about.

I'm looking to get back into skating as a 42 year old, I aggressive skated for years as a kid/teen. I like where you are going. I want a skate that can do both. I might be tempted to dabble back at a park or some rails, but I also still want to be able to skate, flat with some bigger wheels for exercise. I dont really want to buy 2 types of skates, because maybe I just find out I'm to old to take those falls anymore lol. Your skate sounds like a great concept.

Love your videos, I personally prefer to skate in the winter once it gets cooler, but im also in the south, the coldest ive seen is 40°. going to be moving towards the north in about a month. Im really curious on how skating will feel because my asphalt will be replaced with concrete and i will actually see snow

80 mm in 72 frames reminds me of the Salomon frame mod, wich was 72mm wheels on aggressive 60mm frame. I still use it sometimes and it’s super fun. How many mm do the wheels are exposed in the upper part of the frame?

Always a risk with pebbles and twigs and leafs. Not sure any setup is immune to that unless you have a much taller ride height.

Fun fact. You can skate legally on federal property. Your tax dollars paid for it. It's literally your property.
