Hello all hope you guys are doing good so this was my first visit and it's a free entry and it opens only on special occasions like Maharashtra day, Republic day, Independence day....
Maharashtra day is celebrated on May 1st.
Fort Sitabuldi, in it's present state, was constructed by the British after the battle of Sitabuldi in November 1817. The Bhonsle army, though numerically fourteen time stronger than British army lost the battle, as an act of attaining supremacy over the local rulers. The british decided to fortify the twin hills of Sitabuldi and the Fort was built in 1822, there is nothing aesthetic or artistic about the place. It is a strong and sturdily built fort ideally suited to dominate the city of nagpur. The fort is now home to the Indian Army's headquarters uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat sub area.
