The section you are on is/was known as the Meadows, upstream from the Crown is the Conkers. Both stretches were internationally known for its winter matches, with 150+ participating in the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s. Unfortunately due to habitat destruction by the Lee Valley Park (to allow boats to moor up) and total apathy by the Environment agency, the water isn’t even a shadow of it’d former self..

You're onw of hundreds of people that tell the same story about the River Lea, I have now moved away from the area, and cab see when compared to other notable south east rivers such as the Ouse and Ivel, the E.A has totally abandoned it! :( Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment though 👍🎣

Nice one again Andy - Good memories again for me - fished it as a boy with my Dad. When the fishing was a bit slow we watched the Steam Locos in and out of the Station - always a good day out. As you said it was always well known for plenty of Chub passed the Crown pub and up to the left. Great vid again - cheers mate 👍

Worth persevering with this fishery. Not easy but there are excellent chub 6lb plus. The Millstream close by used to be good for Roach. Far bank with a big waggler and catapulted maggot was the method for chub years ago.

Andy, think you'll find that as this part of the Lea is a flowing water, it is classed as a River - it belongs to The Towpath Fishery - check their Facebook page. Some massive Perch to be had here - if you can locate them....

Hi Andy, the closed season applies on the Lee Navigation from Aqueduct Lock upstream. Downstream, the Lee Navigation is open all year round. Shame that you had a blank that day but that section you fished offers decent silver catches and some clonking perch. There's a good flow on the water there which lends itself well to trotting tactics. For the bigger perch I normally fish a small feeder with chopped worm and lobworm (or half lobworm) on the hook. Enjoying your videos, keep them coming mate.

you need to use a back lead when ledgering that would help stop the surface rubbish hitting the line and also the boats can go over where your fishing

Hello mate, none of the Navigation is free, north of Tottenham Lock is River Lea Anglers Club and day ticket. You don't always see a bailiff though. South of Tottenham is all Canal and River trust so you need a wanderers permit. canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/fishing/places-to-fish/where-can-i-fish-for-free The old lea in Hackney Marshes is un restricted as far as I know. There are some carp and bream shoals. None of the fishing is easy though. Be prepared to blank especially this time of year. The old lea is subject to a closed season , and the Navigation is north of kings weir I believe. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you enjoy some of my other content! 👍
