A return visit to the site of the abandoned Cinder Hill Fireclay Works in Siddal, Halifax.
The Works were established here in 1783 by Joseph Morton, and were in the Morton family for 6 generations before closing around the 1960s or 70s.
Fireclay bricks that were produced here were fireproof glazed bricks used in kilns and furnaces, as well as in fireplaces in people's homes.
Today, very little remains of the site, though it seems I may have missed a few things here when Tom.and I last visited.....
