Islam has been in China as far back as when the religion first started around the 7th century (Islam was founded in 610ad, so within the same century) which is during the Sui dynasty. It didn't become widespread until the Mongols brought in many immigrants during the Yuan dynasty. The Hui muslims are generally a bit more sinified having had so many centuries living among Han culture and not a majority Arabic culture, and yes, there have been some emperors (especially during Qing, when the ruling class were Manchus/Jurchens, who were previously often raided and attacked by Mongols, many of whom were Muslim.) --this is very simplified.

*Your "video" is 75% devoted to "things islam" of Xi'an WHEN THE HUI/MUSLIM POPULATION OF XI'AN IS .5% OF THE XI'AN POPULATION TOTAL WHILE OVER 99% OF THE POPULATION OF XI'AN IS CHINESE/HAN.* *THAT'S A VERY EVEN PERSPECTIVE THERE JETHRO.*
