Thanks David, I'm just catching up with previous MW2 Explosion and now this. I'm glad You're covering many types of sound re-design tutorials, please don't stop doing them, this is invaluable insight for us!

I don't know a tonne about sound design and I have zero idea what ultraloop is doing here, it seems like a beatmaking plugin but somehow you're getting this crunchy mid range rumble sound out of it?

Very cool, thank you David! Can you explain what Ultraloop is actually doing? The Twisted Tools page seems to be down, so I am looking for alternatives :)

It’s basically layering multiple samples together in a rhythmical pattern. It’s really meant to do beats and create drum loops, but I look at it as a layering tool. You can check out loopmix by audiomodern: www.daviddumaisaudio.com/loopmix (affiliate). I haven't used it, but it seems to be similar to ultraloop.

Yea, I was also going to suggest Loopmix, but I’ve never actually tried it. Seems to be similar to Ultraloop.

If I’m not mistaken, I’m using the VLC player and the FFMPEG codec.

Is there possibly another way to design tails without Whoosh or impacts without Ultra Loop? Maybe plug-ins that function similarly or completely different techniques all together?

I’ve never tried it, but Loopmix by Audiomodern seems to be similar to Ultraloop. I haven’t really found an alternative to Whoosh though.

I guess you could use S-Layer instead of ultra-loop as a bit more manual approach ?

Maybe. But they are probably using sound libraries too.
