finally someone said this about the master mattes makeup by mario palette! I swatched the neutral one at sephora and, especially considering all the great reviews on the internet, I couldn't believe how patchy and difficult to blend it was
@ellerchu
Күн бұрын
I know. 😭 I think it has good reviews because of the color story and maybe how people do their makeup. I always used it for soft Smokey liner looks and it turns out great! But I found the deeper shadows difficult to blend with each other which turned me off.

loveeed this video! I totally agree with you with the summer fridays lip balm, it looks and feels beautiful but after it goes away it makes my lips dry. Elle you really NEED to try Olehenricksen lip balm, its really thick and plush. The lip balm stay super glossy for a good time and my lips have never been softer.

I thought I was a weirdo because the Summer Fridays also dries my lips out after it wears off. I don’t like the way it feels, I prefer an oil, but not Summer Fridays. There are so many cheaper options out there.

34:24 I live in New York and we have 4 seasons up here. Only during 2 of these seasons does the summer Fridays lip balm *ACTUALLY* work. It only works during colder months like fall and winter. Spring and summer, forget about it. The formula becomes thin and it dries out my lips and doesn’t last longer than 10 minutes. But during colder months, feels like heaven on my lips, lasts about an hour and my lips feel so soft afterwards. So during warmer months I tend to use thinner formulated products. Like the Clinique black honey lip balm. Things like that.

LOVE this look so so much! Super gorgeous. I'm refreshing my eye looks and this is great inspiration! Fantastic video as always... I totally agree with you on the NARS blush, it feels like a timewarp every time I hear it mentioned in a best-of, I'm hanging onto my compact of the original formula in the Orgasm X color (should prob throw it away) because I like the color payoff but I think there are definitely better blushes out there. Also, since I just got a feeling of whimsical nostalgia from the NARS talk, I'm suddenly thinking about Stila Cosmetics... can they have a resurgence? This might be spicy of me, but I feel like Tarte is having the heydey/ attention that I wish Stila would have... but that could just be my 2007-era Stila-Convertible-Color-wearing self talking!

I also watch many reviews, I am subscribed to many makeup youtubers and it is interesting to see how one raves about a product while another hates it. I do have some youtubers where I share the same tastes, so I tend to lean towards their view, especially if their skin type is dry like mine. Looking through the winners, there are a few products I do like, like the Huda concealer is in there, as well as the NARS blush, Aestura lotion and Differin seems to be in there too

The summer Fridays lip balms and the master mattes palette hold the same issue in my eyes. Both are pretty fundamentally basic products (nude matte eyeshadows and lip balms) that are insanely priced for what they are/quality. Idc if a lip balm smells like coffee, fruit, or whatever there’s no reason it should be almost 30 bucks Canadian for a LIP BALM. Or even 70 dollars CAD for a matte eyeshadow palette unless it’s gonna blend out my eye bags away 😂 idk I got the Revolution Beauty Reloaded basic matte eyeshadow palette for 14 bucks at the drugstore and it functions the same if not better so eh, I’ve come to realize sadly: trends sell. And I honestly feel like Allure specifically does these based on how popular they were than their actual quality and reception 😭

Definitely feel like a lot of the products are paid ads caz like HUHHHH BUT ALSO some are really good hidden gems just depends on the over 'hype' each item have, like if an item is over hype and performance good but caz the crazy hype just sets too high expectations and hidden gems are not as well know so when people try it and it performs really good then it needs more recognition ALSOOO We all need to remember that we all got different skin types so just caz it works for some does not mean it works for all of us. Even it its a viral trending product
@ellerchu
Күн бұрын
According to their article, they’re “technically” not paid ads. 👀 Depending on the category it’s free for up to 5 products OR they pay to enter the Best Clean Beauty or Beauty Breakthrough category. BUT like influencers, Allure gets sent the products and probably have worked with the brands in the past to some capacity. This could impact the choice. Also, I know from entering awards like this in previous jobs, some awards won’t charge the brand to enter. But once you win they WILL charge you to be featured or to use the actual award graphic on your website. But theres no factually evidence of this from Allure themselves. I personally would love to see what they compared the winning products to. I think it would help me understand what the product is actually competing against!
@nalee4189
Күн бұрын
@ellerchu they should definitely do a list of all the products enter!!! Also the winning products for each skin type, age, and concerns. Also they should look at how the products performed best at, photos or everyday life, night life/events etc. Also like a full report on how it was tested!!!

I have super dry skin and use the One Size powder. If dry skinned people hate it, they are using way too much. I only have one spot of oil on my face and it’s in between my brows. It still shines through even with this powder. Not awful, but I don’t use a lot and tap off my brush until nothing falls off of it. I use it under my Sahara Desert dry eyes, and no issues. Less is more people.😂

I have tried the missha bb cream. Been using it for 3+ years. It’s my everyday work foundation and what I wore to uni. I do have dry skin though. I set it verrry lightly with powder (around my nose) and it lasts pretty well. I have other foundations too (dior backstage, Armani luminous silk, hemish cushion, tir tir cushion, Pat McGrath and more) but this one is a no brainier for me. I sometimes sheer it out and other times I build it up to medium coverage. I Color correct a bit under and it’s perfect for that natural look. Ps: I think if your skin isn’t too oily you should get away with powdering it a bit. Top up is very easy. I have it pumped into a cushion compact and quick touch up if I ever need to or if I forget to makeup on in a rush. Hope this helps
