As someone who used to attend his church for many years as a brand new Christian I am beyond grateful that the Lord pulled me away from Houston so I could actually get away from that place. I felt so free and got so far in my faith once I left. They are feel good sermons and never ever did I leave feeling conviction for anything I'd been doing until I left the church all together and started working on my relationship with the lord and stopped just asking for my life to change because I asked hard enough! I pray for those that are still attending there.

WOW! That's amazing. Praise the Lord that you are now out! Out of curiosity, did you ever hear critiques of Joel? Or were you aware of the criticism he and his church gets? I always have wondered that!

@@HowtoFaithALife honestly I did I actually had family warning me to leave but I'd always fight against them because in the moment everyone there was friendly and made me feel welcome and the atmosphere all around felt good. But now looking back I honestly always felt like I wasn't enough. And I needed to try harder to be more to have what I thought everyone else had because their "faith" was stronger than mine. It's toxic and you can't even tell until you leave and break away.

@@nicolehowell6221 question! Do you feel like you AND others attending at the time were truly saved and had given your life to Christ in repentance? I ask because there are many people who claim to believe that everyone who listens to Joel is not saved nor could be saved by his message.
@nicolehowell6221
Жыл бұрын
@@BEABEREAN10 personally I believe myself and many other were saved even then, because regardless of what Joel was preaching I was reading my Bible at home and I was raised in church and being taught right from wrong. Joel was just "easy" if that makes sense. I didn't have to feel bad when I left I was always on a high note. But even then I'd feel convicted on my own of things even if he told us otherwise. I feel like the lord was guiding me through even that and I believe he did so because I was already aware of the truth just denying it and getting to take the easy way out by going there.

@@nicolehowell6221 I appreciate you're reply! I can definitely understand this and it's actually encouraging. He's teaching a milky gospel that will definitely save and draw people to Christ, but it won't grow you up. So while I would never encourage anyone to go to him as a teacher, I think he is doing a valid work in evangelizing people to Jesus. I just find it unfortunate that he doesn't come out and tell people that they should seek out deeper truth through other Bible teachers.

At a church I attended many years ago, there was a conversation about bringing in more people. Person 1 said we needed to preach the gospel because the deep teaching was over the heads of unbelievers or new believers. Person 2 said the people in the pews needed "meat" rather than "milk". I walked away feeling discouraged, because I thought there was something wrong with me -- saved for years and yet I still WANTED to hear about Christ's work on the cross. I eventually left that church, and one of the things I love about my present church is that the multiple pastors are all very skilled at providing deep teaching and then ALWAYS bringing back to the cross. For new believers, sure. But for long-time Christians too. I'm still a sinner, and every day I need Jesus! Thanks, Faith!

It is a beautiful thing to be reminded of our salvation but after salvation we need edification, we need preaching that will get us right with God, we need to be taught and encouraged to go and preach the gospel ourselves, most churches are becoming social clubs, there’s no soul winning, there’s no hard preaching on sin, there are no clear standards being taught, churches nowadays are anemic, weak because all they preach is the gospel and sadly many times is not even a clear gospel presentation but rather a turn from your sins to be saved kind of message.

I am so glad you are teaching and talking about this! I always felt he was not teaching the word as he should have been. I am so over this name it, claim it, grab it and blab it mess! We have the Word of God. If we really study it and ask for him to lead us and guide us, he will reveal truth to us. Sure, God wants to give us good gifts, but our character is more important than our comfort. We don't need the cheerleaders in the pulpit, we need pastors and teachers who seek God and his will, and who will give us the full strength truth (as my Mama used to say), not a watered down list of things to make us feel good, try harder or do more. We need conviction of our sins and yes, at times, God will give us a feel good word of encouragement to help us along our journey. I love that you teach truth! Sending you love and hugs. ❤️

What pulled me away from Joel when I was a teen was once I started questioning everything about him and his Teachings even before reading a Bible. I was like " why is he always happy " " why is there like a world behind him instead of a cross " etc etc truly the spirit guided me although I didn't know God in the Bible but I knew him from church only at that time and then later I seen people break down his Teachings and questioning how he teaches similar to what I asked and I was like hmm 🙃 I'm not alone.

So true! He started his last sermon about how our most important relationship is with ourselves. What? No, our most important relationship is with God. So sad that people listen to that and feel like that's enough. They just need to talk to God more and strengthen that relationship. Bring everything to God in prayer! We can't try to fix everything ourselves, and if we grow a stronger relationship with ourselves above our relationship with God, then we stop believing that God can help us because we try to take on everything by ourselves without the help of God. That would feel impossible! Maybe because it is!

I just have to remember that we are human, we all will grow old and die so we're going to suffer from things that wont be healed until God gives us our new bodies.

Thank you for posting this very needful presentation and when I think of the way so many are currently falling for the lies of Mr. Osteen and all of those other so-called preachers, a couple of particular passages often come to me: 1. In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, we're warned by the apostle Paul that the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts they will raise up for themselves teachers, having itching ears and they will turn their ears away from the Truth and will turn to fables. 2. In the first few verses of 2 Peter 2, the apostle Peter declares that false prophets rose up among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them and bringing on themselves swift destruction and many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the Way of Truth will be blasphemed and in their greed, they will exploit you with deceptive words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle and their destruction is not asleep.

My husband use to like watching joel. But we realized very fast that he preaches from his own books with minimal, if any scripture. I dont think he is a bad person, on a worldly level, but i feel like he is, and should be, classified as a motivational speaker not a preacher. I think many people like him because he is a motivational speaker. A sermon based on the Bible scriptures don’t always leave you feeling uplifted…sometimes they leave you feeling convicted or make you feel a push or pull to try and move us out of our comfort zone. I dont think Joel is bad just not a true teacher/preacher of the Word of God because he is to stuck on promoting his book through his “sermons”

His mother was healed of liver cancer believing in God's word and having faith. It wasn't a me me me faith. She actually believed in God to help her and He did. I believe the word is alive and can apply to us now. But we can't just take it out of context. I've heard people say it's okay if we have 6 cars, Abraham had big herds of camels! I think as far as the video goes, there is no more to be said. You’ve beautifully explained it clearly and informatively. As a UK Methodist preacher I can see this slipping into the churches over here, much more with the larger churches or Mega churches which mirror themselves on the likes of Joel. Check everything with scripture, and you’ll see wether or not you’ve strayed by smooth talking and the play on emotions. All we can do is lay this before Jesus Christ and pray for those that are being lured away by empty worldly promises. I think your wonderful young lady in exposing these but not in a condemning way, but informative and just laying the truth before the listener.

I know people need to make money and survive , but there is never any bible studies to learn from someone who is true and trustworthy and solely teaching about God for free for us people who are poor and have no job or income . I am new and trying to find a teacher/group to do a bible study together . My head is spinning with how many online you tube people who charge or do free bible study with one chapter and stop and or charge and aren't reliable and tell you what isn't true. I found Faith's channel a few days ago and have been watching her videos and although I am learning from her and am grateful to have access to her videos I just wish there was a free weekly bible studies especially for us slow learners who are timid and not really understanding what I am reading on my own . I do not belong to a church or have a spiritual family, because I had a bad experience with one before and they tend to be very clicky if you don't fit into their mold or ideals you are pretty much on your own which really stinks and is a huge huge problem for a lot of people and probably why people don't really commit to the Lord , church etc because your basically alone and not learning from them because you don't fit into their standards . Very sad for people who are truly starving for the Lord and truly desperate to be saved and redeemed and well just loved . In short I just wanted to say thank you Faith for the videos you do post and I truly hope God Blesses you and your family because people like me need more patient , loving , compassionate, straight up no judgemental people like you in this world ❤️

It’s like they took the focus off of God and put it on the person. I learned more on my own by reading my Bible and listening to people such as yourself and Voddie Bachman than I ever did going to that church. I am now trying to find a church that focuses on God and teaches the gospel.

Listening to this reminded me of the study I am doing about prayer. James 4:3 warns about praying for self-indulgent wants - basically putting ourselves above God's will. 1 John 5:14-15 points out that He will hear us if we ask according to His will. I believe that before we ask for something, we should examine our end motives. Satan, when he was still Lucifer before the fall, put self above God, and since then, he has been working on getting the human race to do the same..... to put self first instead of God first.

I never liked Joel because he was always grinning, and he was never serious about the scriptures. I am older than most on this site. I like the older pastors , one has passed away Billy Graham and Dr. David Jeremiah . They both teach about the blood of Jesus what it takes to be saved. They teach where a child could understand the bible scriptures. There are so many pastors that preach the world of God, practice what they are preaching about. I pray for these pastors for God to help them be what they should be to prepare people for God's kingdom. I pray for an awakening to happen where America can get back to God. The end is coming soon, and I don't want anyone left behind to endure life in hell. I have family members who need God to intervene in their lives. Thank you, Faith, for another wonderful message.

thank you Faith for debunking him. I grew up in Houston and some of my family were on staff. But that was back in the 60s/70s. Joel doesn't NOT to have the same anointing his Father did.... Not at all. His Dad, John Osteen, was great as I recall. I get nauseous when he's on. I stopped listening to Joel Osteen back in the 90s.. it suddenly dawned on me that he never spoke about the Most Precious Blood of Jesus! He never gave Scripture References (i. e. Book, Chapter and Verse). And while I knew the Scripture he was referring to, a baby Christian would not.

I agree. He makes the mistake about making every single thing found in scripture about "us" in a most self serving type of way. And that's a death trap 😳. I think its an important thing to remember that it is firstly about God, his power, his strength and his great redeeming love for his people, but to totally strip the humanity and relationship aspect out of it (the bible) saying its not about God's people (of which we obviously are) is also a trap. It is very much about God. But it is also very much about the real relationship of God to his people and redemption OF his people. We are not the central focus obviously, but, the Bible is relational in that it IS about that relationship and how we relate to the God of the Bible. So in that aspect it is about "us" .. relationship between us and our God. While it wasn't written for us specifically it was written to God's people, using God's people and so.. it is in that aspect about us and for us. We can't remove the humanity aspect out of it saying its only and singly about God. It is both. I think the trap people get into is trying to remove both. Either the God aspect or the human aspect and calling both righteous. It has been and always will be about the relationship between the two. Man and his God. Why would he even want us.. why would he even choose us, choose relationship with such rebellious, weird, creatures that we are? On the whole Joel Osteen thing .. I am not sure I've heard him really ever label himself as a pastor or preacher when he has done interviews with secular people. Most pastors are not afraid to stand strong against worldly things and straight up call sin sin.. does he do that? IDK... I would definitely agree he is more of that motivational speaker. He certainly doesn't tend to display the qualities of a pastor and shepherd to me. Anyway good food for thought Faith! 🙂

Jesus says all things are possible to those who believe. So anything we are dealing with and in need of, such as healing we receive it by faith, which comes from the word of God which is for us. God wants us to have his kind of faith, so we can believe and receive for all our needs

I very much enjoy Joel Olsteen’ positive and uplifting attitude. Extreme break from the hell fire, damnation I grew up. He is a talented, gifted speaker, and has written many NYT Best Selling Books. I don’t think he draws a salary from member contributors. I do not categorize him as a “keep trying higher. He is not a “sow a seed in my bank account. I own most of his books. I wish he was closer to Chicago. Blessed Be, Faith, Joel, and y’all!

Whilst God teaches us to benefit ourselves, there's a lot of uncomfortable [at the onset] discipline and choices we need to make. And Joel likes to tiptoe around all that. As the saying goes, God loves us as we are, but He loves us too much to leave us that way. If you can't trust God to be there with you as you say no to something you really want but is condemned in the Word, and know that what you will receive on the other end of that is so much better - then you need to work on your relationship with God. Feelings change. God's Word does not.

I admit it. I was a little leery when I saw your thumbnail. However, I have seen your other videos. So, I knew this was not a true attack videos with no answer to the problem that Olsten was trying to solve with his feel good theology. As someone who suffered emotionally, I can well uderstand the appeal of people like this. For me, it was Joyce Meyers. As I matured and God began a work on my heart, my need for Joyce disappeared though my appreciation did not go away. I am a Charismatic and believe that God does heal, today. Yet, I've often felt a need to have a firmer grasp on my own theology. It's why I got Wayne Grudem Systematic Theology. There was a time when I would not think that a blogger and KZitemr would need suh thing when I'm not in apologetic. Yet, I recently felt a need to get sucha book, ebook version. I do have a question for Joe and you. Though I am not a pastor, I puzzling through the value of having such a book. Love to get your input. Heck, it may be a good video topic since its up your alley.

@@josephwomack4683 Hi Joe. I didn't know it was you. ;-) Some years ago, I was given a vision of what I believe God was calling me into. At the time, it was writing for the Kingdom. It has been confirmed through Scripture, and an open door. The problem is, I was never formally trained for ministry. Yet I've a clear writing gift. I did tell my pastor at that time and he only suggested that I pray and seek God. I was born with disabilities and get SSDI. Yet, God has God has helped me in getting a tool called Logos Scholar's Library. I can't tell you how inadequate I felt. Yet, I had a strong need to push forward. By the way, I am a techie and would never have picked this arena. Who the heck is going to listen to me? In 2002, I dived into writing content for a free website. I thought it would be a good way to showcase my writing. Though I could never get an article in a magazine, I did fairly well writing online. In 2009, I started my first blog site and then I started my current KZitem channel, a few years later. I can't tell you how frustrated I felt in writing or doing KZitem video. Yet, I felt very much alive doing it. Of course, I had to learn quite a bit. I started with writing encouraging stories and moved to what I hope is meatier teachings. You can always find a link to my current blog site on my YT channel. A few days ago, I felt a need to buy an electronic version of Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem. Guess what? Theology and Apologetics are not something I do in my blog posts or video. However, I felt a need to get it and now I feel a need to do more than just review it. As a fellow content creator, I'm asking "How can Systematic Theology help with my content?" Yes, my target audience is the Body of Christ.

We SHOULD expose false teachers/ Teaching. Paul did. I was in a cult for 17 years. People need to be challenged on their beliefs so they can dig deeper on their own to find truth
