Yes, I do! Rarely do I hit one, and most of the time I now use the flower headed pins. They're so flexible it'll ruin the pin before it messes with the needle. I also use titanium needles (SuperiorThreads.com) and usually replace them only a few times a year, usually due to guilt rather than need.

Wish I had seen this yesterday! I had a customer's quilt come up four inches short on the backing. I took it all off and sewed extra fabric on my domestic machine. Thanks for showing this! I will remember this for the next time! BTW, do you have a shortcut for adding more batting? Same customer was short on her batting as well! I hand stitched it on.
